Booked a last minute stay at the GF (and I mean last minute) and got a GREAT upgrade

Last Monday, we had stayed at the Boardwalk the previous night (Sunday) and were scheduled to stay off property at a friends house for the rest of our stay. We decided we wanted to stay an additional night at the Boardwalk, but there was no availability at all. We thought, what about the GF, since we were already eating a late dinner at Citricos anyway. On Monday morning, we called and booked a standard garden view room at the GF for that night. The room they gave us was in the building to the left of Narcoosees. We had a water view of Space Mt. the Contemporary and Contemporary DVC tower (couldn't see the Castle though). The room was extra large with a separate sitting room. Out of our 12+ trips to WDW as a family, staying almost all on property and booking many, many months in advance, this was only the 2nd upgrade we had ever received.

Oh, what a wonderful surprise! It's always nice to get sprinkled with a bit of pixie dust.

It's so, SO amazing to receive an upgrade!! We were upgraded recently at the CR to a (completely amazing!) Tower Club suite. I didn't realize exactly what it meant when the CM at the check-in desk told me we had been upgraded. I said something like "oh, that sounds very nice," but like you, I was just blown away by the amenities and view! Definitely an experience we'll never forget.
