Anyone have any recommendations for wedding planner books (with the checklists) or bridal magazines to subscribe to? I'm newly engaged and trying to plan but a lot of the stuff I've seen so far won't really benefit me since I'm going to be having an Escape Wedding, and most of that will already be planned for me. Most likely the wedding wont be until Aug 4th 2011, so I can't get my online planning kit any time soon. Just wanted to get a head start! Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly I bought a wedding planning book and I really haven't found it very useful. A lot of the information, including checklists, are available for free online at the knot.

I do have a subscription to a few bridal magazines. I get Brides, Modern Bride and something else, I think it was $20 for the three, but apparently they are discontinuing the other two and making Brides a monthly magazine. I do like the magazines because they're fun to flip through, even though most of the ads are the same, and they do have pictures of flowers and cakes, although you can really find most of those online.

With an Escape Wedding, so much of it would be covered for you. I would recommend Carrie's Passporter book though as it's specific to Disney Weddings and there's a whole section on Escape weddings which would probably answer any questions you may have.

I have a ton of wedding books and don't care for most of them. LOL. I feel like you can find most of the information online for free so why buy something? However, I found The Wedding Book by Mindy Weiss {I think that's what it's called?} to be the best.

Thanks ladies! How much is this online thing and where can I get it? Also the bridal magazines are just fun to look at, and may give me favor ideas and stuff like that. I just think its exciting to get stuff in the mail! :) $20 for all 3? What a deal! Is there somewhere I can order those? As far as the checklists I assumed I wouldn't be using very many of them since everything is all in a package and kinds planned out anyway, I just wanted something to help me stay organized. We don't have a printer connected to our laptop at the moment.

Thanks so much! Is the book worth printing out so I have it in reference for when I need it? Or should I just download it and keep it on the computer?

I printed the whole thing because I have a friend at a printing company. It might be about $10 to print the whole thing at a place like FedEx Kinko's.

You can always just print the planning pages at the end and keep the pdf for reference.
