Book with anyone other than Disney or AAA?

Every trip I've taken, I've booked through Disney with some discount/special offer/pin. I know some people book the same or similar deals through AAA. Has anyone booked through anyone else?

There is a travel agent site (not sure if I'm allowed to say) that has a very good deal going. If I understand the offer, it's a really good deal. I've not heard it mentioned on the DIS though, and I wouldn't want to get ripped off by a company I'm not familiar with.

How does it work when you don't book directly through Disney? How do I know if an online company is legitimate?

Thanks

Disney is level playing field, so unless you're finding an off-site room (which could lead to a really good price deal) the package prices should pretty much be exactly the same whether you book through Disney, AAA, or a travel agent. (I'm a travel agent, so I know that the prices I pull up are the same as what every other agent pulls up anywhere.)

The only time I've ever heard of an on-site amazing price was through some of the airlines that might have booked a block of rooms that they can't book out and then need to get them off their hands at a really low rate.

Hope that helps. Maybe some others who have been in "the biz" longer might be able to add more to the answer.

Thanks for your reply. It really does seem that the offers should be the same or similar, and that has been the case any time I've compared outside offers to the Disney site. This deal was labeled a food and wine package (or something like that). Maybe I misunderstood the offer or maybe it wasn't legitimate.

Disney offers agencies who sell a lot of vacations special discounts from time to time, but they're usually very limited and require you to travel a certain week. The agency signs a contract with Disney to sell a certain number of rooms, usually through group services, so you basically end up getting the covention rate, which is why it's cheaper. For example, a friend of mine works with a TA (sorry, I don't know the agent's name) every year who gets specials at the Poly. This year's special is during Jersey week--not when she wants to travel, but the cost is easily $1000 lower than anything else out there. I would imagine the sponsors of this board get special offers as well, as do most large agencies.

The biggest problem with these types of offers is that you have to be flexible about when you go.

I agree with Chris, in fact I know what offer you are talking about and can assure you it is legit. I questioned it at first as well when I saw another agency offering it, but I can assure you it is a legit offer and an incredible deal! They get it by partnering through Disney groups department, I say don't pass it up!

I saw that offer as well! Yep it sure is legit! What a great deal! I love food and wine festival! Mmmmmmmm! Whoever is looking to book it because deals like that don't come often or last forever.

I know what agency you're talking about and they have an offer for Star Wars weekends on select dates and the Food & Wine offer. There are certain dates that you need to book by and travel by but it's a great deal. The Food & Wine is actually calling out to me to book!

Chris and the other pp are exactly correct as to how these deals are offered. If you are flexible with your travel dates, you can take advantage. It is a real offer!

TB-Maybe contact one of their agents and get a quote..and see how much you can save if it is during the dates you can go.You might be surprised at the deal you will get and what you can save :)
Because why would a travel company put their name out there with a non legit deal? That's false advertisement and nobody wants to ruin their company that they are building up.And their agents don't want to be caught up in lying to people who they are trying to get to be repeat clients.
Just my .02 :)

While the 'level playing field' theory would seem to make sense, remember that Disney offers tons of different deals to different groups & people. For example call and have a quote done by Disney-then give them a code you found from Disney sites that watch for discounts and watch the price change lol. Also some agencies do get exclusive deals direct through Disney. My advice would be to contact an agent from this site and inquire about the deal-what it entails, restrictions, etc. Whats the worst that can happen? You don't hear something you like-but if you do hear some good stuff, then you might find yourself a great deal :)
Good luck!

Can anyone tell me the agency for this? Or can someone tell me what to "google" if it's not allowed to be posted?
