We booked a package with Virgin in feb 09, tickets, flights, hotel etc,

we have always booked through a TA, which i have always assumed was cheaper. this yr i did it myself. booked the hotel direct through disney along with the park tickets, and booked flights direct through virgin.
before booking them, i took a print off of the prices to a 3 TA's and asked if they could better the price. No-one could get nearly as good a deal. Virgin came up over £100 more expensive and that was without the park tickets.
So it worked out cheaper to book it myself.

i booked everything myself this year as well and saved over £600 to what virgin were going to charge us

You have to check all options, Xmas it was cheaper to book with Virgin Holidays but usually its cheaper to DIY. This August I estimate a package would have been about double what we have paid DIY.
DIY is more flexible, you can pick and choose where you want to stay, slip a cruise in the middle. I also like being in control of everything.
Downside is it can be very time consuming to get the best prices and doing the research to find best places to stay.

Would you mind sending me some good companies/websites that are good for -

Disney and Universal Park Tickets
Car Hire

If we were to book the hotel, would you be pay on check out or before you travel? we stayed in the marriott village LBV and would recommend doing the same,

I did a quote yesterday with VH and the tickets and car hire + insurance seemed so much more than last year,
all your help will be most appreciated

Hi, I found a website for Disney and Universal Tickets (orlandoattractions.com)The prices change daily and are a bit cheaper than what the TA's are offering. Can't help with Car Hire or the hotel, we usually just book through a TA, but considering doing it by ourselves this time!!:scared1:

Hope this helps:)

Carol
