Book two cruises or move dates if needed?

We’re planning on cruising over our kids’ fall break, but I don’t have the dates yet. I’m pretty sure it will be one of two weekends, and I could wait, but I’m seeing cruise prices creep up. Is it crazy to lock in cruises for both long weekends now (since I just have to put down a deposit) and then cancel one once I have the official dates? Cancellation window for full refund is like June or July, so I’ll definitely have the schedule before then.

As long as you can afford to make two deposits, you have nothing to lose by booking two cruises now and cancelling one before penalties begin.

If you can afford it and its not concierge I'd say go for it. Prices only go up

We actually did this for the Treasure. We couldn't decide between January and May and the prices were almost the same. We're able to handle the deposit for both, so we booked both and will decide a bit later which one sticks based on some other travel plans. Right now, it's fun having an "extra" cruise in our app! I keep telling DH we should take both, but I don't think he'll go for it!

I don't see anything wrong with booking a cruise you may not be taking. For many years, that was the way the OBBs were done, before DCL started the "placeholder" policy. We booked many "dummy dates" over the years.

Thanks all! Not booking concierge and we can swing two deposits. Even better that they have a promo of reduced deposit currently, so I went ahead and booked both.
