We're THINKING about going the first week of February. If we go, we'd have to get a great deal like this year's 4/3 + $200GC to stay on property. Otherwise, we'll stay off. I just want a standard room at Pop. Do you think I need to book the room only now and then apply the code if it comes out? Im afraid if I don't, there might not be any rooms available in Oct/Nov when I anticiapte a special offer coming out.

They may not release a deal like the 4/3 again. But if they do I would wait and book when the deal becomes available. Because if you book now and then no deal comes out you may have a slight problem. But I booked the 4/3 kinda late(like March 26 or 27; the deadline was March 29) and I managed to get the room I wanted. You just may need to be flexible with the actual dates. But if you book early enough you shouldnt have to worry. Hope that helps a little.

I booked next year already and asked if I could apply any codes or pins to my existing reservation and was told I could.

i was wondering the same way, we want to book the 7 days, and if they dont offer the 4/3free deal, then i will reduce our trip to 5 days with hopefully a discount.

We will only do the 7 days if the 4/3 is offered otherwise we are going 5 days. Should we book the 7 days, and then we could remove the 2 days in Nov when and if they offer something else, or should i book 5 days, and add days but take a chance that i might not get to add them (this happened before to us- when i tried to add 1 night on and it was not avaialalbe)

I was told the same. We're going back in late Oct/early Nov 2010, and are hoping for the free dining deal that's currently being offered on those dates. I was told to book now, and that IF WE CALLED, they'd apply the new codes.

The bolded part is VERY IMPORTANT. I was told that they would NOT automatically change the reservation if a code came out - I'd have to call back and have it applied.

We're probably booking as soon as the dates are finalized (this weekend, hopefully)!

This is really confusing because some people seem to be allowed to apply discounts to a reservation and some may not. When I called and tried to apply a discount the last time we were there they canceled my reservation and made a new reservation. I had to change from a standard view at the WL to a Woods View because a standard was not available with the code(had already sold out). I would be curious what experiences others have had. Can you apply a discount to a current reservation?:confused3

I am hoping for the same dates.. I am holding out because I am not all that picky about where we stay (though avoiding ASMU cause they will most likely put the dancers there from 2/5-2/7 when they have Nationals).

It is suppily and demand here.. if rooms are booking up they won't offer a deal. The question is, will rooms book up very much?

I plan to be one less person filling up spots at any rate. Maybe I will help us all!

:sad2: Can't decide what to do! Now it turns out we need five rooms and I'm afraid we won't be able to book at same hotel if I don't book room only now.

I here ya, I am in the same boat.

Planning for a March trip. I think I am just going to book now and roll with it. If a deal comes out I will either modify or rebook. Nothing loss inside that 45 day marker. I just need some peace of mind right now.

With 5 rooms sounds like you will qualify as a grand gathering. Why not call and see what the GG specialist has to say? 407-939-7526

Room only reservations can not just have a code applied if the code is for a MYW package because room only reservations can not be changed to MYW packages. They have to cancel the room only reservation and create a brand new MYW package. If you're applying a MYW package code to an existing MYW package then your reservation will stay the same except your price will go down (assuming the code is better than what you already have). All discounts do have limitted availability so in your case, the view you wanted was already sold out for the code you were trying to use. That happens all the time. Even if you already had a MYW package that could have happened since they still have the same number of rooms available under the code so you likely would have had to upgrade to get the discount anyway.

The short answe is yes, you can apply a code to an existing reservation of the same type (MYW to MYW or room only to room only), subject to availability.

 I did go ahead and book room only because we need 5 rooms. So you're saying that it will take two steps to get to a special...1) cancel room only and book package...2)apply code to get discount on package.

If it's a crazy deal like last year's 4/3...that's a lot of steps (5 separate reservations!) while everyone else is on the phones snatching up deals!

I'd contact the folks at Grand Gatherings. They may be able to simplify things for you.

I am glad you did room only now, I went searching for this thread because i had originally said I would wait.. well now I am thinking about booking because there is UDA Nationals there the weekend of Feb 5th.. I don't want to be out of the room I want because I didn't book!

I wonder how many dancers/cheerleaders we're talking about here...The good things is that if you're at an All-Star (if that's where they are), they're probably not clogging up the buses to the parks. I have a friend who has taken her daughter for cheer competitions before and they didn't even go to the parks - they just competed and left.

I believe that Disney only has so many rooms in each category at specific resorts in the promos. Which is why say they may be sold out with a promo code such as free dining at CBR, but you can book it without the promo code as a regular package or room only. Doesn't necessarily mean the entire resort is sold out.
