Book recommendations for almost 11 year old boy and 8 year old girl?

Another one that both of my kids love are the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books. I read these when I was younger and loved them. They were out of print for awhile and now are back in bookstores.

Both of my girls - ages 14 and 9 - have loved the Warriors books - there are a lot of them. They also loved The Boxcar Children books, and my DD9 is really into the Nancy Drew books. (And so am I!)

In addition to the Riordan and Horowitz suggestions for your son, if he likes the Wimpy Kid books, he might really enjoy Tom Angleberger's books, either his Origami Yoda series or his stand alone books. Perhaps also try some Diana Wynne Jones, either Howl's Moving Castle or the Chrestomanci books. "The Name of This Book is Secret" by Pseudonymous Bosch is also very popular.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Just placed a whopper of an order from Amazon because there were so many good choices I couldn't decide which ones to get- so I got almost all of them :rotfl2: I look at it as a good investment though. They've been needing some new books for a long time- especially my son. So I appreciate all the ideas and look forward to some quality reading in the future for my kids and me too. Very excited for them to open them Christmas morning:banana:
