Know the dates I want to visit WDW - 10 nights over the Halloween period. Is it better to book the room now or wait until AP rates come out - late August if last year is anything to go by. Will I be able to change to an AP code easily or cancel the room only booking if a decently priced package deal comes out (I haven't got our AP's yet)? I wasn't sure if a deposit would be due right away, upon booking or if any penalty is applied for changing/cancelling.

Anyone any idea of the AP rate for this period last year for a value and a moderate resort - I am leaning towards either Pop Century (wondered if these would be even available, being a new resort) AS Music (better chance?) or a moderate - perhaps POFQ.

Advice from all the DIS vets out there appreciated.

Since it might be busy around that time period, I wouldn't wait too long before booking. The deposit is due 14 days after booking, and it is easy to transfer your deposit around should you change your mind(I have done that a lot!). There is no penalty for changing your mind, as long as it is more than 5 days out. I am sure there will be AP rates available for that time period, but keep in mind you can always call after the fact and have a rate code applied to your ressie(I have done that as well!). I know you will have a great time, and wish I was going with you! The parks are great that time of year.

I agree with the previous poster, I would reserve now. Then at least you will have the resort you want.
