I HATE booking airfare! Its like playing the stockmarket to me! It is the one thing about travelling that stresses me out every single time.

We need to book a one way ticket to MCO from STL. We used American flyer miles for the return trip (thank goodness). We are travelling Memorial Day weekend on Saturday (yay free Dining!).

Southwest has a MUCH better schedule with more direct flights out of STL but right now the cheapest one way is $155. There are SIX of us! They do have flights for the weekend before us on sale right now for $119.

AirTran has one direct flight that arrives in MCO after 8:00 in the evening for $116, but of course you pay for bags and seats.

Thoughts....book AirTran now or WAIT for Southwest????!?

You're flying out of Missouri? Well, I don't know what the average cost in a one way is on Southwest from MO but Philly has never been lower. They just opened up to September 30th and one way's are $78. That's HALF what I paid last year! I think now might be a good time to double check those prices!

I had been looking for early March (before my DD's school schedule got in our way) and the lowest I was able to get was in September for 94 each way out of Kansas City. It went up to like 119 for forever but went down again to 94 for a bit in December I wanna say. I was looking at STL too to see if it was lower because it is only a 3 hour drive and the kids could stand to see the Arch and it was usually about the same as KC. Nothing specatcular enough to make the drive though. It might have been like 84 each way, cause I was looking for 70's or lower to make it worth the drive.

If you don't mind driving sometimes Tampa was cheaper from STL.

Sorry I dont have more solid info, I was looking for "drastically cheap" from STL because my DH hates the drive!

I am applying for the Southwest credit card offer for two free flights (first time applicant situation and a $59 annual fee). There is another thread where they are talking about that. I can apply and my DH can too and that would be four flights. They charge the 10 dollars per flight so it is 160.00 total for my family of 4 to fly.

Maybe that can help you some!

Thanks so much! :)

Right now one way flights are $155 person...YIKES!! We have SIX tickets to buy. Up to just a few days before our departure I have seen them as low at $79-99. I'm holding out for at least $119 and I think it will get there! :)

I recently booked with Air Tran when I inquired about seat fees I was told if I paid to pick a seat and the merger had been completed on my travel dates I would get a refund. Hope that helps
