Book a room at full price then wait for discounts?

Hi all!

I know you can do this with resorts at WDW, but I'm a bit clueless about Disneyland.

We're APassholders and I know they'll be some rates in the fall (and possibly better ones that are non-AP). I don't want to lose a room at the DL hotel but can I book something for the rate it is now, and then re-book if a better deal pops up?

any other DL resort hotel discount tips?
