Boo to You & Turning 2! Oct 2012 PTR *NEW* 10/30 We're Back! TR Link Posted!!

I will second afwdwfan's comment: Bluto's Blidge Rats @ Uni-IoA is vastly superior to KRR. It was 12 years ago the one time I rode that, back when DAK and IoA had both just opened. That's a river raft ride done right.

Sadly, I wouldn't really count on soft openings. Check out this interesting article:

But you never know!!

I think your DCA plan looks great. I am so glad I got to tour it before all the walls went up, so that way I can remember how it was when I see it in the future in a couple years. One thing about the Ferris Wheel, just make sure to take a car that doesn't move. Those can be a WILD ride (take that Mr. Toad.)

I also recommend doing Grizzly. I actually loved it WAY WAY more than Kali Rapids.

Can't wait to see your DL plans!

I wanna go to DCA now!!!!

:goodvibes

All of the Toon Lagoon area at IoA pretty much keeps you soaked to your undies all day! :rotfl: We usually skip all of those attractions, though I have done the Ripsaw Falls once. You are nonstop pummeled with water on that one too! I thought it would be similar to Splash Mountain, but boy was I wrong!

Aw, that's a bummer about the soft openings. But we have a LOT to keep us occupied that I don't think we'll be too bummed. :goodvibes It would be awesome to see, but I wasn't really counting on it anyway.

Skier Pete mentioned sliding cars in his reply, but I didn't really get it, but now I'm a little freaked out! This is what I love about the Dis...I had no clue there were cars that would move! From the picture, they look like bucket cars. Is that right? Do I just request a stationary one?

I think, if I recall, there were separate lines for stationary/moving. You shouldn't have a problem. You ought to get a nice view of Carsland from up there!!

I've never done the Popeye one either. People come off of that ride drenched to the bone! I think the last time I rode one of those rapids rides was in 1994 when my aunt & uncle took me to Busch Gardens and we all got drenched. Since then, I stick to Splash Mountain for my water ride fix, although as I reported last time, sitting in the front row gets you a lot more than a "splash"! :rotfl2:
I can't argue with you there... it absolutely drenches everyone on the raft. There's no way you're missing the water on that one. You really have to plan accordingly to ride it. There are several scenes set up through the ride that just literally pour water from above into the raft.

I still think it is worth a ride if you ever get a chance though, because it really is well themed and a lot of fun.

And I'm sorry we highjacked your PTR to talk about water raft rides, even though you said you don't like getting wet.:rolleyes1

Very good description of KRR. The theming for that ride is really excellent though, and I think that's what is so disappointing. There's so much potential, but the first time we ever rode it, I got off and looked at DW and said "that's it???"

That's EXACTLY what we said after getting off KRR. I still can't believe it's so short and lame (sorry KRR fans, I just don't get it!). :confused3

DCA looks amazing!!! I'm ashamed to say I know absolutely nothing about any of the Disney stuff in California , and I really had no idea there was so much cool stuff there! I'm looking forward to hearing about that trip; you're going to have a blast!! :thumbsup2

World of Color is amazing! I cried during that show. I wasn't the only one.

California Screamin is SO much fun! The Monsters Inc ride is really cute too, epsecially the end. I don't wanna give anything away. :)

When you see Aladdin (which rocks by the way) get a seat in the second section. There's the orchestra and then there's an aisle and more seats. Try to sit in the first or second row right behind that aisle. You won't be disappointed I promise!!

ToT. You have to let me know what you think!

Thanks for the tip! Otherwise we might have been standing there saying, "A moving seat sounds fun, let's try it!" :rotfl: Well, I doubt it, but who knows. Now I know to stick with the line for stationary seats. :thumbsup2

Is the Popeye one the one where you can put in money and squirt people on the ride from up on the bridge? We are planning to do the USO parks on our next trip, and if Paxton can ride, he might enjoy getting drenched from head to toe. So who knows, we may be riding the water rides before we know it! No apology necessary, this is all good info! I'm now leaning more to riding Grizzly in DL just so I can compare it to KRR on our next trip! Especially now that we are taking breaks during the day...in the past we would have hopped from AK straight to another park, so water rides were definitely out. Now it might actually be an option! :thumbsup2

Don't be embarrassed! Until I started planning this trip, I had no clue either! I think my idea of DCA was mostly the Paradise Pier area. But when we started looking at the attractions I realized how much more they had. I was thinking it would be another DHS experience where there wasn't much we could do with DS besides shows and TSM. So I'm pretty excited about the whole Bug's Life area because I think it will be a much more fun experience there for DS than DHS was. DL is even more exciting to think about! SO MANY rides there that are not at WDW anywhere!

Thanks for the tip on Aladdin! When we first said we were going to DLR, I was excited, but not nearly as anxious and excited as I am now that we are getting closer and I'm doing more looking into the attractions they have!! I'm sure I'll shed a few tears during WoC. I almost ALWAYS do during Wishes! I just wish we weren't missing out on the DL fireworks on our trip. :worried: I LOVE Disney fireworks! Between missing Fantasmic & the fireworks, and not being able to experience Cars Land, I'm thinking another trip to DL will be in our future.

Don't feel bad - she highjacked her own thread - this is an October WDW PTR - right? ;)

:rotfl2:

I guess this has turned into a DL PTR...Only for a few more weeks, then we'll be back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I don't remember reading anything about getting priority seating for Aladdin. I think it's just World of Color, they have the two different dining options for it, plus the FPs. Haven't come across anything for Aladdin yet, but I will keep my eyes peeled. :thumbsup2

Oh man, I would love a soft opening...Just because I know it will be a LONG time before we make it back to DLR to see it.

I looked it up...looks like it is just for DL package holders. Sorry :) but I remember the theater being huge so it was sort of silly, just maybe a little less waiting.

That sounds about right... it's been about 4 years since I've been there, so I really don't remember, but I'd assume they probably do have the water cannon stations.

I think it is pretty much destined that Paxton will LOVE the water rides, just because you and your DH don't particularly get too excited about them. :lmao:

Good point! :thumbsup2

So will this DL trip merit it's own TR, or will you be doing a combined TR as well?:confused3 :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Thanks anyway for the info! Hopefully it won't really matter, and we can still get a good seat. :thumbsup2

DING DING DING! I think you are right!! :rotfl2:

Nope, it will have its own TR! Since it's only 4 days, it would be really sad if I was still working on that one by the time our October trip rolled around. :rotfl: Since the DL board didn't have a separate place for PTR's, I (apparently wrongly) assumed no one did them. And I (again, apparently wrongly!) thought I wouldn't have that much to post about for a DL PTR! I guess I learned my lesson for next time. ;)

No problem! Our tour guides sat us there and we were all wondering why we weren't seated a little closer and then we saw why. It was great!
I wonder if Cars Land will have a soft opening when you're there...?

I'm not giving up hope yet, but an article tofubeast posted above makes it seem like they will not be doing any kind of soft openings to give the big reveal more impact. :sad2:

I Agree, I really enjoyed Bluto's ride at IoA and was let down after ridding KRR at AK and have not ridden it since. One time on that was enough. If GRR really is better it might be worth taking a ride. Only thing is we would have to ride separate since Paxton will be too short. I should let DW ride first to see how wet she gets before I decide to ride or not. :rotfl2:

NOOOOOO!! I wanted to do the moving ones why did everyone have to bring up the fact that they moved. :lmao: Maybe me and Paxton can ride the moving one by ourselves.

Well, at least ONE of you should ride it and let us know! Though I should stick up for the guys here, I would say since you've ridden Bluto and KRR and you're wife hasn't - probably should be you...don't take away my man card!

Sorry! Though I can't imagine standing in line for the ride and NOT noticing those cars sliding around, so I think the jig would've been up once you got there.
