I don't know about everyone else, but the three of us had a GREAT weekend! Since we had a lot going on for Sunday, we decided to have a special early Father's Day/Birthday breakfast at IHOP Saturday morning (my 27th birthday fell on Father's Day this year). We left the house at about 8 am, and lucky we did because it was already kind of busy when we got there. We had no wait for a table, but it did take a long time before anyone came to take our order! DH and I both ended up getting the exact same thing (if I would have known he was getting the same pancakes, I'd have ordered something different but I went first and then felt bad changing my order). We both got 2 blueberry pancakes with scrambled eggs, hash browns and sausage. TONS of food. We were both sick to our stomachs after we left. Paxton enjoyed taking a few bites of pancake but didn't really like the sausage or hashbrowns. He really wanted some eggs but he's allergic so we couldn't give him any.
Sunday, we got up pretty early thanks to Paxton and immediately loaded up the car and made our way to my parents' house in the New Orleans area for a day with family. We got there pretty early so we could drop Paxton off with them and go to church nearby.
After church, my parents gave Paxton the presents they had picked up for him on their cruise last month.
A sombrero
And a maraca from Mexico
My dad was all excited about finding the sombrero because apparently his grandfather had gotten him one from Mexico back when he was about Paxton's age. Paxton was not a fan of the sombrero being on, but he did like the noise that maraca made!
Around lunchtime people started arriving. DH's dad ended up coming, as always bringing tons of stuff for Paxton, including one of those big balloons with a rubber band attached so you can hit it and have it keep coming back against your hand. Hopefully that description made sense!
I tried getting a picture of Paxton and DH since it was Father's Day after all, but only got this. Check out my FIL photobombing in the background!
The weather was not looking promising, so we decided if we were going to swim, we better do it now. The three of us were the only ones going so we quickly changed into our suits and slapped on some sunscreen.
We tried putting him in his pool floatie for awhile but he wasn't crazy about it because it was putting him a little too much into the water, which felt a little cold. It had rained that morning and the sun wasn't out so it was definitely a chilly day for a swim!
Eventually we took him out, and had a hard time keeping his face out of the water, but only because he kept wanting to stick it in!
It was lucky we swam when we did. After about half an hour, Paxton was getting crabby so we took him out of the pool and gave him a quick bath. By the time we came out, it was storming! It was a lot of fun though, and I'm glad we did it despite the cold water. We thought about putting him down for a nap after that but some of the family wasn't there yet and he was doing okay so we let him keep playing. DH got a call that they needed him at the office, so we had to leave pretty early to get back home. Paxton of course crashed in the car before we even hit the interstate and slept pretty much the whole way home. It was a great Father's Day/Birthday!
I don't know if I had ever mentioned on here, but DH had gotten me a Cricut Expressions machine for Mother's Day, so for my birthday, I got 2 cartridges!
It was a really fun weekend despite the rain. It was kind of funny, as we were leaving it was absolutely pouring and the three of us got soaked running out to the truck. Get Paxton buckled in his car seat, run around to the front of the truck, get in and shut the door...and the rain goes down to a trickle! Of course!!

It wasn't that funny at the time, but now I can laugh at the irony.
Anyone else do anything fun or interesting for Father's Day?
