Boo To You and The Castle Suite Too! – A September 2013 TR

Thank you for following along as I share our memories from this wonderful trip! I'm so glad you are here.

I was having issues with photobucket from some of my earlier posts. All my pictures are now restored.:thumbsup2

I hope to have a new update done soon.

When I last left off, we had just left our castle ;) and we were about to enjoy Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!

Katie explained that the rides are easy to go up to the front because they usually have an alternate entrance or fastpass lane, but characters (except for Mickey and the Princesses) were a little harder and she couldn't guarantee she could get us up front with the Fairies because there was no fastpass. We told her that was fine, we would wait. Meeting the Fairies was on Alexa’s priority list because she didn't have a chance last time and because she was dressed like Tink. Katie left us to go talk to the CMs working the Fairy meet. She somehow worked her magic and we were led in front of everyone. This was a little uncomfortable and I felt a few glares as we moved ahead of the line. Regardless we had a wonderful meet with the Fairies. Terrance was meeting with Tinkerbell and Carson thought that was cool to meet a boy fairy. Tinkerbell loved Carson’s sword which made a slashing noise and walked over to Terrance to show him. She had our kids really laughing trying to figure out what “this lost treasure” was. When I think about it, I think Carson (my I'm too cool for characters 8 year old) was more into this meet than Alexa. Not that she didn't enjoy it but Terrance and Tinkerbell really had him laughing. Great memory! Here some pictures of the meet.

Tinkerbell's turn......:tinker:

I love how these turned out. The kids costumes look great with Tink!

We decided it was Carson’s turn to pick next. Katie called around and found out that Peter Pan was done meeting guests for the day, but maybe we would see him in the Parade. So he picked Big Thunder Mountain of course! This was Alexa’s first time and her nerves were kicking in a bit. Katie took us up to the front of the line. I think it was all happening so fast Alexa didn't really have time to worry about it.

Of course Carson wanted the front row, so Katie again worked her magic and made it happen. While we were waiting to board, DH and I had fun chatting with Katie about different celebs that have either stayed in the castle or that she has taken around for a VIP tour. She said all the CMs would be checking us out trying to figure if we are famous or not once they see her come through with us. As we were talking she said that Carson had a resemblance to Charlie from the original Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory Movie. A nearby CM operating the ride overheard us and was cracking up, he also agreed!! So the rest of the night we joked that she was taking around the famous Charlie Bucket and his family for a tour. :lmao: What’s ironic is his middle name is Charles and we were so close to naming him Charles with a nickname of Charlie, but ultimately decided on Carson Charles instead LOL! Anyway, Carson, aka Charlie, wanted to ride with Katie, so Brandon and I rode with Alexa. She felt safe to be in between us for her first ride. Despite the nerves, Alexa ended up LOVING this ride. :yay: The kids wanted to go on it again, so we did! Once again to the front of the line. This time Carson and Alexa both wanted the front seat, so I rode with them and Katie and Brandon rode together.

Alexa was waving to the ride operator who was still laughing over the Charlie Bucket resemblance. :wave2:

Trying to be brave for her brother she puts her arms up, but you can tell in her eyes she is still a little afraid as we went up the hill.

Now she is having fun!

After the 2nd ride, the kids were ready to go on it again!! In fact they could have rode it all night. But we decided we were getting hungry at this point. So we stopped at Pecos Bills because we were right there. It was mobbed with people, but Katie said that not all the food places would be open for the party and they would all be crowded, so we stayed. In hindsight I wish we would have eaten first before the party started and maybe the lines would not have been so long. However, since we didn't have to wait in any other lines for the night we were not complaining. Katie said she would come back around to check on us, but to take our time. I think we waited about a half hour to get our food. I snapped this picture of the kids with my phone while in line to text to the grandparents to show off their Halloween costumes.

Except for the wait, we enjoyed our meal. Just basic counter service, but we loved the toppings bar! We found a table outside where we could people watch. There were some awesome costumes!! I didn't realize that many adults would be dressed up. If we ever go during Halloween again, DH and I would probably join in the fun and dress up. During the meal I know we discussed how lucky we were that the weather was cooperating so far, considering the forecast of rain. Unfortunately, that didn't last…we may have jinxed ourselves.:rolleyes2
Alexa was done first so she decided she wanted me to take a bunch of pictures of her. She likes to pose for the camera. I won't bore you with all of them, but here are a couple.

After we were done, Katie came back to get us. She said the parade was going to be starting in a little while so we shouldn't go far. I know we discussed Pirates, but Katie thought maybe the Magic Carpets would be better because Pirates is a longer ride. (the Jungle Cruise was under refurb :() As we were about to get on the Magic Carpets the rain came pouring down!! We got the ponchos out and huddled underneath the awning near the entrance to the ride. Katie was on the phone trying to figure out if the parade would be delayed or not. Carson decided he still wanted to go on the ride in the pouring rain, so we let him go by himself. (I have no pictures because I didn’t want to get my camera out in the rain) But he thought it was so cool to be on this in the rain all alone! Through the pouring rain I could see his huge smile each time he came around. :hyper:

Stay tuned to see if the rain ruins our chance to see the parade.

Oh I just love the Fairies meet & greet area! So many cool things to see. Glad your kiddos had some fun interactions with Tink and Terrence. Great update!

This sounds like such a magical experience experience from top to bottom. How awesome you had your own private guide who was able to work such magic for your family? And don't you feel one ounce of guilt about skipping ahead in the meet and greet...after all, that was part of the prize...completely right for you to enjoy every second of it!

I am getting caught up once again.
There is just too much to comment on. I would love to have had that elevator princess meet too. I love that kind of stuff.
The BBB makeover was a huge success and the kids costumes are perfect. Claire has the Peter Pan knife too. We got it a couple of years ago and she still plays with it off and on.

I love the special treatment you have gotten so far...Ok I love it and am still jealous! But I am so glad you won the trip. It was so magical!!!!!!

This was my favorite character meet of the trip. It is such a cute area!

Yes, they made it extra magical for us! The private guides were wonderful. They taught us so much about Disney as we walked along. It was so nice not to wait in line and we did enjoy it. The Fairy meet was the only time I felt bad about it. I think because the way it's set up made it awkward to go ahead of everyone because everyone could see us. Usually we went in the fastpass lane or side entrance.

I am getting caught up once again.

The elevator princess meet was awesome! I'm still kicking myself for not getting a picture!!! Without the knife, I don't think Carson would have enjoyed being Peter Pan as much as he did. We were so spoiled by all the special treatment we received...no other trip will ever be the same!

Thanks for the advice on American Girl, we went last weekend and had a blast! We got there before it opened and I was the first one in line, so we got into the Bistro. It's crazy how small the Bistro is. No wonder why I couldn't get reservations!? Alexa is saying she wants to have her birthday party there the end of February. We'll see about that.

Wow! What a great trip! Thank you for sharing!!!!

By the time Carson's wet ride on the Magic Carpet's was over, Katie was able to get a hold of someone who confirmed the parade would be delayed. But she had good news that the radar looked like it would clear up enough in about 1/2 hour to have the parade. It was so nice to have some inside information. I felt bad for the people who had been standing at their parade spot forever in the pouring rain, not knowing when and if it was going to start.
Katie said we had time to go to the Haunted Mansion but we would need to hurry. So we booked it over to the Haunted Mansion with Katie leading the way through the pouring rain and all the people lined up for the parade. We were brought into the side entrance of the Haunted Mansion and lead down a hallway. Standing in the hallway, we were greeted by one of the ghosts who sit out front of the Mansion during the party dressed in her big ballgown. I think she told us her name was Renatta? It seemed like she was waiting in the hallway for the rain to stop and was a little surprised to see us. She quickly got into character and followed us into the stretch room, where we were ALONE! Alexa was freaking out and practically climbing up my leg! The ghost told her in her southern accent…."don’t worry darling, I’m a friendly ghost.” Again, I’m kicking myself for not getting a picture!!! :( I had my camera tucked away due to the rain and I was in the moment and didn't think to get it out. Plus I was trying to wrestle off my poncho and had a 5 year old fairy hanging on to me for dear life. :scared: Darn! Anyway, she exited the stretch room right before the pre-show started and waved as the door closed. I did manage to hand the little fairy over to Brandon and get my camera out to take a few pictures of us alone in the stretch room. It was so strange and cool to be in that room alone.

You can see Alexa is still a little scared and Carson is teasing her! Big brothers :rotfl:!!

The ride was awesome as usual and thankfully Alexa calmed down enough to enjoy it. She did close her eyes in a few parts and Carson will still tease her by saying ….hurry back….hurry back. I loved how the CMs were all dressed up as ghosts for the party. I wished it wouldn't have been pouring rain so we could have taken in the atmosphere outside the Mansion with the spooky lights and fog effects and maybe have gotten a magic shot photopass picture in front of it. However, if it wasn't raining we wouldn't have gotten to experience a private meet with a Haunted Mansion ghost and have our own stretch room.

Katie was waiting for us by the exit and had our stroller ready to go. Although it was still sprinkling, the rain had let up a little and she said we really needed to hurry so we could make it across before the parade started. So we booked it back through the crowds of people still waiting for the parade to our special VIP viewing spot on the Liberty Square bridge. OMG!! This was spot was so awesome. pixiedust: There was one other couple in this reserved area; otherwise it was just us and a few CMs!! Katie said the Headless Horseman would not be making an appearance due to the rain, but we didn't mind we were just so thankful the parade wasn't cancelled completely. After it was over Katie also mentioned some dancing skeletons missing from one float and Winnie the Pooh and gang were not wearing Halloween costumes. But we still enjoyed it. Here we are in our special spot, looking a little drenched, but still having a wonderful time.:lovestruc

I can not even begin to explain what an amazing experience this parade was for our family. :worship: First of all the The Boo To You Parade itself is just awesome! The music, dancing, characters in their cute costumes, candy, villains and ghosts with the special effects…it’s the best parade I've seen at Disney! Secondly having this reserved area gave us the opportunity to slip in 2 minutes before the parade started with out being crowded or having a blocked view. Also, because we were practically the only people on the bridge beside the other couple and CMs, we felt like we had a private parade just for us. Almost every character, dancer etc. came up to the kids during the parade to interact with them, give them hugs, or high fives….it was priceless! The cowboy dancers took turns putting their hats on Carson's head and the cowgirl dancers gave Alexa a little spin. It also seemed the characters on the floats were performing and singing right to us. I even got a bunch of kisses blown to me from Jack Sparrow up top of the pirate float. It was amazing experience, hence why it landed in the title of my trip report. I did my best to capture our experience with a few pictures but I mostly took video. It’s hard when you are trying to enjoy it as well. These pictures do not do it justice, but here is what I have.

This is a bad picture, but it's of the guy with the Bloodhound. We used to have a bloodhound named Nellie who looked just like this. We called her littlenellbell, which is how I came up with my user name.
I told the guy as he came by that we used to have a bloodhound. He let me pet her for a second, but stayed in character looking around for ghosts.

Here come the ghosts. Alexa had a pretty tight hold on her Daddy during the villains section! At one point Cruella came over and grabbed her wings and told her she wanted to steal them.

We got so many lollipops during the candy section of the parade, the kids were able to take them back to give to their classmates.

After the parade was over, Katie said we didn't have too much time before Hallowishes started since the parade had been delayed. We decided on Peter Pan, since Carson was on his Peter Pan high from his experience with the parade.

Continued in next post.........

Before I go on, I want to comment about how awesome it was to not have to worry about time. I’m sure some of you can relate. I don’t plan our every step for our vacation but, I still have to be conscious of timing so we don’t miss out on what is important to us. I’m the one who has to worry about when our next fastpass is up, when our next ADR is, how long before the next show or parade and if we had enough time to do a certain thing before the other thing starts. Deciding if we should leave what we are doing to get a spot for fireworks and what is the quickest way to get to where we need to go and once we get there will the line be too long etc, etc, etc. And also have to make sure I take pictures so we don’t forget these memories. :rotfl2:
It was so nice to have Katie doing this for us and Ava was helping her via phone with times etc. I had no concept of what time it was. I was just one of the kids putting in requests of what we wanted to do and Katie was making it happen. Nice!:bitelip:

So on to Peter Pan we went. For some reason I took no pictures? :confused3 Here are my kids decked out in their adorable Peter Pan costumes and I missed another photo opportunity! Yep, I must have been really getting into this go with the flow, no worries and just have fun! :rotfl: Regardless, we had a nice flight on Peter Pan. I like how all four of us can sit in one car together. It isn't a roller coaster, but this ride fascinates my little coaster engineer due to the track on the ceiling.

Once again Katie was waiting at the exit, telling us the fireworks would be starting soon. Since the castle was closed off for the fireworks we had to book it around the castle through the crowds to make it to our special fireworks viewing spot and of course we had to take a restroom break along the way. We were lead to a reserved table in front of the Plaza restaurant. Sweet Ava was waiting for us with waters and a couple full bags of trick or treat candy! She had done our trick or treating for us! pixiedust: I think Alexa was a little disappointed because she was looking forward to going trick or treating, but the rest of us were grateful because there are plenty of other things we could be doing. There is only so much time in a night! I know it’s special to be in the MK trick or treating but we can do that at home. Plus, it was nice to have some candy to munch on during the show.

Celebrate the Magic projection show had started right before we got to our seats, so we were able to see most of it. Love this show!

Then Hallowishes started! I have to say that there is a soft spot in my heart for Wishes. I love the music and have the soundtrack. I still like Wishes a little better. However, the feeling of being surrounded by fireworks during Hallowishes is absolutely amazing (especially the finale) and again it didn't hurt that we were able to get an awesome spot without being crowded in. pixiedust: Another magical experience we were so so so very lucky to have!

After Hallowishes, Katie told us another Villains show would be starting soon if we wanted to see it. DH and I wanted to see it, but Carson was ready for more rides and Alexa has a fear of some of the Villains, so we decided to pass on that.

Coming up we have more Halloween fun! And wait until you see how magical the turn down service is in Cinderella's Castle Suite!:cloud9:

I don't know who Cathy is, so I'm not sure??? But Katie was an excellent guide! We had a great time with her!

My bad, Kathy Werling who posts a safetymom on the boards and is a podcaster on the DIS podcast (the people who on the board)

What a cool experience at HM and so glad that you got to see the parade. It's my favorite parade ever! I love the gravediggers!

I love the updates.

How cute that Carson was Peter Pan and Alexa was Tinkerbell. So cute that their costumes went together and the pictures with Terrance and Tinkerbell are great.

Awesome VIP experience throughout your night. The being alone in the stretch room, the reserved spot at the parade and the lovely table where you would watch Hallowishes. So magical.

You can NEVER bore me with pictures of the inside of the suite, so seeing your kids dancing around in there and having you take and share a million pictures is totally fine by me.

Bummer about the rain but glad nothing was cancelled and you were still able to do everything you wanted.

Wouldn't it be great to have a Katie every visit :)

Your experiences are just getting better and better :yay:

I wish this was an experience you could pay for...but it would have to be super expensive because everyone would want it.

I'm so loving your trip report. Thank you for taking time to tell us this amazing and magical story!! :thumbsup2

You had the stretching room AND a Haunted Mansion ghost all to yourselves, how cool is that!?! :hmghost:

I'm so glad that the Boo to You parade didn't get rained out! It is definitely Disney's best parade!! And then to have a private viewing area and all of those characters' attention.... so SO awesome. It must have been such an amazing night!!

I’m the one who has to worry about when our next fastpass is up, when our next ADR is, how long before the next show or parade and if we had enough time to do a certain thing before the other thing starts. Yes, yes, yes! I can totally relate! That was me too. I had done all (I mean ALL) of the research for our trip... so everyone always looked to me to make the decisions. Oh it must have been SO nice not to have to worry about all of that stuff!! What a huge weight lifted off of your shoulders. :thumbsup2
