Boo to YOU!! A halloween adventure!**1/7 X 2!!! DHS & MK!!**

Wow, you still have school?

This city would shut down at 2 feet! It's the ice that kills us though. It's our first day of winter break here...we are all still in our jammies! Off to the store soon though, can't make gingerbread without butter!

Nope, no school! The kids are super happy about that one!!! They've never actually had a snow day! When DD was in Kindergarten they had a few days of delayed openings because of ice but that's it. I'm really hoping for another day off tomorrow, I think they're enjoying the snow way to much for school!!!

snow,snow,snow!

Holy moly!!! We got 2 feet of snow over the weekend! Actually I believe the last measurement was 27 inches!! It's the largest snow fall ever recorded on Long Island! We usually get the short end of the stick when it comes to snow because of our proximity to the water.

Not this time!!

Johnny, DS7, lives for snow! Everytime they say it's going to snow and then we get slush or rain or nothing at all it breaks his little heart!!! I asked him yesterday if this snow made up for all those times and he gave me an ear to ear grin and said yes!

A few pictures for your viewing pleasure!

Looking from our front door first thing yesterday morning..

Looking left from the front door...

The chainlink fence (which I hate, btw!) is 5 feet tall to give you a little perspective!

DH getting his shoveling on...

backyard...

Johnny in the backyard after an attempt to get the shed open to get something for Daddy, the attempt was unsucessful...

DD after sinking into a drift in the frontyard!

Enjoying the day...

blowing snow in the face...

Princess Dorothy atop her snow mountain!

Ryan's first really big snow and the first he actually went out to "play" in

Standing on top of the snow at the fence! 5 feet up!!

Looking down our street...

headed for the warmth of the house...

UGH! It's soooo much snow!! Crazy!!!!

It's nice to know we don't have to go anywhere!! The kids didn't have school today because of it! I wouldn't be suprised if they cancelled school again tomorrow!! We shall see! Their last day before winter break is Wednesday.

Be back soon with a TR/PTR update!!! Maybe another mega update ;)

While I know that the snow creates problems for many people, it looks so wonderful! Just what you want to see at Christmas time! I hope your kids get to enjoy having fun in the snow for a bit longer, here nearly everything has melted away already... :sad2:

We're pretty lucky in that DH works from home and I'm a stay at home mom, so we don't really have to go anywhere! The kids had yesterday off and today they delayed the opening of school by 2 hours.

It's so beautiful! I'm kind of hoping to be able to go later and take a few pictures ofthe beach and what not but I'm not sure I'll have the time once the kids are off to school!

It's supposed to rain here on Friday I think. that will make for an icky mess!!!

I seriously got a chill just looking at those pictures. We get a good 5 or 6 inch snowfall every few years here, and it's a big, big deal. I remember well bundling the kids up and letting them play in it for a while. They would come in with red cheeks, snow falling off of their layers of socks, hats, coats, and gloves. They'd warm up with hot chocolate and then friends would come by and they'd go out again. By the end of the day, there was a huge pile of laundry! But, those are great memories for them and for me. They loved it, and I loved watching them.

It's funny that that much snow gets you a day and a delay. That would keep us out of school for two weeks! :goodvibes

Wow!!! Look at your snow!!! Here is Maine we missed it by thismuch (not much) but we ended up with a little dusting!!! There's still plenty of snow on the ground though. It must be funny to see for those who don't usually get that much snow!!! I am so anxious to hear about your trip when you get back!!:yay:

Fun stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eck! I'm finally back on Dis! Part of Monday and all day Tuesday everytime i tried to get on a thread I'd get a blank screen and I'd wait and wait and get nothing!!

Annoying!!! Especially because I have an update ready and wanna get thing baby finished in the next 15 days!!!!

We're celebrating Christmas at home today, Santa has been to visit (Cynthia. he didn't clean my house even though I've been a good girl and I asked very nicely ;):lmao:) Now I'm waiting for the kiddos to decend!!

I other news, our roof is leaking!!! Good gosh darn!! Our house is only 5 years old!!! All the snow and ice seems to be causing a problem in one corner of the house. Right over our bedroom and right next to my side of the bed! I heard it dripping Tuesday night but I thought it was dripping and hitting the outside of the window, which happens a lot when it rains.

But yesterday morning I went in there to get something to find the floor and the window sill all puddled!

DH and FIL looked at it and it seemed to have stopped. FIL, who I call The Boss because anything he says DH listens too, told DH not to worry about it :sad2:

Yeah, great idea! I went upstairs after the kiddos were in bed last night to start getting out the christmas presents to discover a huge mess!! I had put towels alone the sill and the floor to catch anything that may drip but kinda forgot about it when DH and FIL said it was ok. The towels were soaked and there were HUGE puddles!!

UGH! We're hoping to get someone out to look at it today. Yeah right!! Christmas eve with 2 feet of snow on the ground!!!! BIL is a contractor so maybe he can look!!

Anyway, on with the responses and hopefully I'll get the update up later today!

I had a HUGE pile of laundry!!!! I made DD and DS7 wear 2 pairs of pants because it was really cold and they don't have snow pants, we don't normally get that much!!!!

I think this snow is one of those snows the kids will talk about 30 years from now!!! DH and I both remember 2 blizzards we had when we were kiddos. One I only vaguely remember but I remember my mom not being able to get the back door open to let the dog out and thinking that the snow must be as tall as me!!! The other one I couldn't go out in because I had just had knee surgery and had a cast from my toes to my hip! Booooooo!

They really should have cancelled school Tuesday too! I went to the school to help DD's class make scrapbook pages. The road were awful and the school parking lot was a nightmare!!!! I guess maybe they figured they couldn't just have school yesterday!

I'm sure you have plenty!!!! We normal get a few inches a year but 2 feet is a lot!!!! Actually the newspaper said it was biggest snow fall ever record on Long Island!!! I'm so excited for our trip! It's coming up so fast!!!

With that amount if your town isn't set up for road clearing, yeah, you are likely home again today!

Fun stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

They did a pretty good job I guess! I Think with the blowing from winds it was hard to keep up with! We have a lot of farms and anyplace there's a farm the snow was blowing really hard across the road!!! One farm just down the road has drifts at the road now that I think are easily 20 feet high!!! You can't see the farm house and barns behind it anymore!!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

I didn't get my update up yesterday! The day got away from me!!! Sorry! We're leaving for PA in about 30 minutes so I'll put it up when we get back!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas Melissa!

So sorry to hear about your Roof leak - that really stinks! I hope you are able to get everything fixed really soon.

I loved your snow pics. I took a few too, but I never got around to posting them.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful day!!!!!! Can't wait for that next mega update!

Hope you had a great Christmas!!!

The roof (knock on wood) seems to have stopped leaking for now! DH and FIL both think it was just because of the snow had all blown to that corner of the house and created an ice damn in the gutter so when the snow started to melt it really had no place to go. When everything melts someone wll have to go up and check for damage!

Thanks abotu the pics! The kiddos had such a great time in the snow!

Mega update coming soon!! We're in PA at my parents now for Christmas and will be back home tomorrow afternoon!

2 weeks to go!!!!

2 weeks from now we'll be at MCO!

Something about that statement just seems so wrong to me, because it feels like you just left on your last trip. nah - psych - I am really happy for you to be able to go back so soon! I love January and I think its a great time to visit. Plus - I know you are going to love Kidani!!!!!!

Happy travels home. Can't wait for that mega update. oh, and I posted my snow pics today. Of course, I don't have cute kids to photograph in the snow, so I had to use my cats instead!!!!

Hey Melissa,

love the snow photos! Hope your Christmas was awesome!!!

Big ? for you...didn't your TR get shut down at one point???

Imagine my surprise when I went to do an update on my PTR...and it was gone?...:confused3

I know I have been a little behind but there are PTRs and TRs that are still open from months ago...and I hadn't posted on mine in about a week because of all the holiday business...:confused3

Are we on the Naughty list...;) and how do you get on the nice list?...:confused3

Thanks! We had a great christmas! I hope yours was great as well!

My PTR got closed a few weeks ago! I'll admit I was neglecting it and with a halloween title they probably thought it was ready to be closed! I just posted in your PTR sometime last week though!!!!

Sometimes I think the naughty list maybe better, at the very least it may be more fun!!!

Hi all!!!

Oh my! I'm so sorry to leave you all hanging!!! It's been crazy around here and my dis time has been seriously limited!! I'm sooo behind on my subscriptions I'm not even sure where to start or where to go! If I'm on your TR or PTR I'm sooooo sorry and I'm thinking of you but just haven't had a second to get on!!!

The holidays are coming to a close, especially because we aren't doing anything for New Years, and I'm hoping to get caught up with subscriptions and done with this TR before we go!!!

One of the reasons I've been busy, other then the holidays, is that the newest member of the family has arrived!!! SIL had her baby on Sunday!!! A week late and after 28 hours of labor, baby Alexis arrived via c-section weighing 8 lbs 11 oz!!!! She's beautiful and sooo chubby!!! I have to put her pictures in my webshots account to share with you but those of you who are my facebook friend may have seen her!!!

Anyway, I promised a mega update and a mega update you will get!!!!!! All of day 4!!!! Then I'll be back in the next few days with more and some PTR updates!!!

Ahhhh, sleeping late!! I LOVE it!! I’m such a morning person I very rarely sleep much past 7 am! But today was different!! I slept until at least a little past 8, maybe later.

I started myself some coffee and then hit the shower!

Soon after I got out of the shower the big kiddos were awake in the living room with the TV on. So I joined them in the pullout bed with my coffee! What a lovely way to start the morning!!!

DS2 and DH woke up not to long after and we slowly started our day!

Once we got ready we headed for Artist Palette for a light breakfast! I believe that DH got some sort of breakfast sandwich or breakfast platter, the kiddos all got the kids Mickey Waffle platters and I got a muffin and a banana!

It was an ok breakfast, not the best ever but ok.

Then it was time to head to DTD for some shopping!!!!!! I love to shop and I love Disney!!! My 2 favorite things rolled into 1!!!!

We headed to the dock to take the boat from SSR to DTD!!

waiting for the boat...

It was very nice ride!!!

We saw the Characters in Flight Balloon and commented on how you couldn't pay me any amount of money to take a flight in there!!!!

Our first stop, of course, was the lego store!! My kiddos LOVE legos!!! We spent a good 45 minutes in there looking, picking things out, making Christmas lists, making little lego men etc until both big kids had decided what their purchases would be and DH had decided that Ryan couldn’t do with a Bob the Builder lego set. Then it was finally time to pay!!!

I believe it was fast approaching 1 o’clock at that point and DH was wanting to go back to the room to watch the Giants game. The plan had been for DH to take Ryan back to the room and for the Dorothy and Johnny to stay with me. But, Johnny wasn’t feeling like shopping and thought going back to the room to put together his legos was a much better idea! Don’t blame him!! So we made plans to meet up again later at Epcot!

Then DD and I were off on our own shopping adventure!

We first headed for World of Disney were I must tell you I witnessed an interesting scene! We headed for a bio break in World of Disney and there was a lady in the restroom with her daughter who was visible upset. I tried not to appear nosy but they were speaking loud enough for anyone in the restroom to understand. Apparently Grandma and Grandpa were watching their dog while they were in Disney and the dog fell gravely ill while they were gone. Grandma and Grandpa had taken the dog to the vet and vet stressed the fact that the dog was very sick and in pain. Grandma and Grandpa had called to ask for permission to have the dog put to sleep. The mom was explaining this to the girl, who was probably 10 or 11. I felt so bad for the girl. I honestly don’t know that I would have told my kids such a thing while on the trip. I probably would have let them enjoy their trip. But to each his own. I admit the whole thing tugged at my heart and I shed a tear because I felt so bad for them. It was just terrible and a little bit of the real world crept in at that moment.

We shopped around World of Disney for a little bit. We didn’t buy too much but what we did buy we got an AP holder discount on! Yippee!!!

Then it was into Arribas Brothers!! We didn’t stay in here too long because it kinda scared me. I was afraid we might break something!

Like this…

Notice the price?! $37,500!! YIKES!!!!

Now I’m not sure what order we did things in so I’m going by memory, because I didn’t write it down, and pictures!

We browsed in TrenD, but I didn’t buy anything. There were so many cute things I was a little overwhelmed!!!!

It is a really cool store though!!!

I had a shirt when I was in middle school that had an old Mickey Mouse comic on it and this made me think of it!

I thought of certain diser when I saw this!

more next post...

We browsed Basin, again not buying anything because the choices and the wonderful smell had me in kind of a fog!

We went into Once Upon a Toy

and bought a few little things including an R2D2 light spin that I love!!!! It’s, according to the CM at the checkout, the first light spin to make noise and it actually makes an authentic R2D2 noise!! It’s too darn cute!!!

We had quite a bit of shopping fun in 25 Days of Christmas (I think that’s what it’s called) and bought a few ornaments for our tree as well as some great ones for gifts!!

We browsed the pins in the pin trader, didn’t buy anything

and then headed for Goofy’s Candy store!! This was our first trip in there and it was very, very cool!!! I must admit though the make your own line was long so we skipped that and opted for jelly beans and other treats instead!

Then we headed for Art of Disney to browse!

Then DD decided she was hungry! I had wanted to try Earl of Sandwich but DD is an adventurous eater at all and really wanted McDonalds, Blech! I could have got myself something at EOF but that seemed like too much trouble :lmao: So we headed back toward McDonalds!

There were like a million people in McDonald’s!!! I guess because it was still hot out and it was nice and cool in McDonald’s! IDK, I rather avoid McD’s if I can!!! Luckily we ordered and were served quickly and found a table!! Thank god! I didn’t want to go outside!!!!

DD enjoyed her happy meal, I actually think I got a happy meal too but with a large soda, can’t remember. I enjoyed spending part of the day with DD much more then the food

Then we decided it was time to head for Epcot!!

I made an executive, mommy decision and decided to take a cab!!! I had thought of taking the bus to one of the Epcot resorts and walking or taking the boat but that seemed like a little bit too much trouble!! So we found a directory to locate to taxi stand! Once we found it on the directory we headed that way, but as luck would have it while we were walking on the parking lot side of DTD a taxi approached so I hailed it! A BBB CM was walking by and laughed and commented on me hailing the taxi and said I must be from NY. I told her I was, but not the city and she laughed.

He had a nice, pleasant, short ride from DTD to Epcot and were soon going through turnstiles! I highly recommend taking a taxi at WDW!!! It was huge timesaver and it only cost me $7 plus tip! Well worth it to me!!! My sister and I will definitely be taking a taxi from AKV to GF for our massages next month, we may take one back too!

First order of business in Epcot was to get our picture taken!!! Not sharing it though, I look wretched!!! No joke!!

Then off to find the lockers to stow away all of our shopping loot!!! There wasn’t too terribly much, I just wasn’t feeling like carrying it!!!

Then we were off to SSE!! We walked on and enjoyed our journey as usual!! I didn’t take any pictures though, I just enjoyed the trip with my girl!!!

Then we headed for Innoventions because DD really wanted to do Stormchasers again! She had done it in Jan with DH and thought it was great. So we went for it!! I can see why DH enjoyed it so much! It’s right up his alley!! His whole business is designing homes and around here they have to meet certain codes and requirements because of hurricanes and such! In fact, one of the rides sponsors, simpson strong-ties, makes the strapping that DH puts on almost every new home!

Then we decided to head toward the Seas!

more next post...

Melissa -

I apologize. I think this post may end up in between your mega update. I just wanted to comment how much I am enjoying your update and I love all the pictures of your duaghter. She looks so cute. It is so nice that you are getting to spend some time with each other. And $7 for the cab certainly does sound like a deal!

Glad you had a nice morning and got to enjoy a relaxed cup of coffee with all the kiddos.

Such a sad story about the little girl and her dog. That is a real bummer! The only thing worse than putting a pet to sleep is having it done while you are away. :sad1:

We stopped to take this picture…

I didn’t take any pictures in the Seas either! Sorry! I was really just enjoying seeing things through DD’s eyes!!!

Then it was off to The Land! We could have gotten FP for Soarin but from what I remember the return time wasn’t until around 7 pm and DD and decided it would be fair for us to have FP for Soarin and not Daddy and DS. So we headed for Living with the land!

DD and I both thoroughly enjoy this ride and I did take pictures this time ;)

Much to DD’s delight she spied this in the lab…

Then we got a call from DH that the game was over, much to his dismay because the Giants lost, and they were headed toward Epcot!! DD and I decided to head for a treat toward the front of the park!!!

A picture along the way...

We got some super yummy ice cream at the Foutainview Café!! We sat at table outside and enjoyed our ice cream and the beautiful fountain, along with each other’s company!!!

Then we decided to head to Mousegear in search of something specific, although I can’t think of what it was! I think it might have been a picture frame for my sister. We bought one or 2 small things and made our way outside again just as DH called to say they were in the park! So we met them at the fountain and headed toward WS!!!

I know a lot of people are happy to know that the fountain is dancing to the music again!

First we headed for Mexico and Gran Fiesta! I know it’s a tad kitschy and cheesy but I love it! I don’t remember ever riding it before the Donald enhancements were made a few years back so I don’t really know what it was like before.

We browsed the inside of the pavilion and enjoyed the smell of the yummy Mexican food and then went back outside! I would have loved a margarita but the line was insanely long!!

In fact WS was packed! I mean elbow to elbow with drunk, sweaty, smelly people! YUCK!

WS that night was a lesson in why not to go to WS on a weekend night, even a Sunday, during F&W! I learned a very valuable lesson my friends! Don’t repeat my mistake!

I did manage to take this picture, which I love, somewhere along the way

Then it was off to Norway for Maelstrom! We waited a few minutes, 10 tops, on line. DD,DS2 and me had never ridden it before! DH and DS7 had gone in January! It was a nice first for us!

Then it was off to China! I had wanted to see the Movie but the next showing was a while from the current time so we just explored the pavilion a little and looked in the shop. I actually saw a doll that brought back a lot of memories!! My grandfather was quite a world traveler when I was a kid and would go away to a new exotic local every year. He always brought my sisters and I wonderful treasures. Including a doll from each place. That’s one thing I wish I had saved from my childhood, all the beautiful dolls!! They had one in the shop that looked just like the one he had brought us from his trip to China! I may have to go back and buy it next month!

Pavilion pics...

At this point it was starting to get dark and the moon had come out! There was a beautiful full moon over the bridge by China!

We headed toward Germany but couldn’t really get near anything so we kept walking toward Italy. DD had wanted to stop in the shop and see if we could find Italian Mickey for her best friend who comes from a very Italian family! It was a very cute! She bought it with her own $ and we were on our way again!

Moving toward the American Adventure we decided to stop and get something to eat! We went to the CS in the pavilion. Big, huge mistake!!!

Everyone picked out what they wanted and I waited on line. It wasn’t a long line but I waited forever!! I swear I must have waited on line with 2 people in front of me for 25 minutes! It was crazy! Part of the problem was that there was a lady on line 2 people in front of me that apparently had never ordered at any kind of counter service restaurant before! She was having such a hard time with the order! She made the poor CM who was taking the order repeat it back to her at least 3 times! UGH!

I finally ordered and got our food and then returned to the table! The kiddos all got chicken nuggets and fries, which they enjoyed, I’m not sure what DH got and I got a chicken caesar salad wrap.

My wrap left a lot to be desired for to say the least! It was just gross! It tasted old, like it had been in the refrigerator for too long, ick!!!! The wrap itself tasted like and had the texture of thick paper! GROSS!! After my sandwich at Artist Palette the day before I’m starting to lose faith in WDW sandwiches! I guess I have to get to CHH!!!

After we were finished with our dinner we headed for the gift shop to pick up a few things and then headed out of the American Adventure!

We had heard music start to play while eating dinner and I figured it was the Food and Wine concert series. We glanced over while we were leaving the pavilion and saw Taylor Hicks! If anyone is wondering what happened to Taylor Hicks after he won American Idol, he’s playing the Eat to the Beat Concert Series at Epcot!

I wonder what Simon would say about that :confused3

another picture along the way...

We tried very hard to see WS but there were just soooooo many people there! The fact that most of them were a little drunk didn’t make it any better! So we decided to head try to head out!

I really wanted a Gray Goose Slush and, honestly at that point I could have used it, but the line there was insanely long too! Booooooo!

We stopped for a few pictures along the way…

no one was home to answer the call ;)

This kiosk was serving a few wines from our area!

Then the picture I’m most proud of from this trip…

We headed back to SSR and started packing up for our transfer to WL the next day!

Wow!! What a mega update! It sounded like a wonderful day--shopping and spending time with your daughter:) Your pictures are beautiful--especially SE! What a sad story about the little girl and her dog. It made me misty :( You are getting so close to your next trip! You must be super excited and you should definitley get that doll in China! My last trip I saw my very own lunchbox that I used to have so I found one on eBay! :)
