We are staying here the week of Xmas. We will have cars but just wondering how the shuttle to parks has been. I know there is a fee (for the Timeshare resort, not asking about the hotel). I also realize that around Xmas will be crazy but want to see if it will make sense to use bus transportation if our group splits up etc.

Family members stayed at BC last Christmas and said they will stay onsite next time based entirely on the transportation.

They didn't want to rent a car, and they hated the time involved with the shuttles. They tried to get there not by rope drop but early, and found out that the hour early that they thought would be enough to get them there around park opening should have been two hours or more. Same on returning, they should have started back hours before they actually wanted to go back.

I'm sure in a non holiday time it would have been better but at Christmas they said every shuttle was packed and they had to wait for multiple shuttles before getting one.

Just as an aside it's not like Disney buses were perfect during holidays but they did better getting around Disney itself then they did getting to and from Disney. So it kinda set thier opinions up from day one that onsite will be the better choice for them.

We live within driving distance, so we always have a car. To me, even when staying onsite, driving is SO much more convenient.

From Bonnet Creek, I can be parked at any theme park in 15 minutes...or less. That ease, plus the benefit of being to go back and forth easily makes driving a no-brainer for me.

In addition, having a car opens up the entire universe of offsite dining and the ability to go to places like Sea World or Universal easily. Just the dining alone is enough reason to drive, IMHO.

I can't understand how anyone could pay the kind of money involved in flying to WDW, lodging, food, park tickets, etc and then lessen their enjoyment of all that by depending on anybody's buses! And to save what? $300?

Thanks for the feedback. It is what I expected. We will have cars but just wanted to see if bus was a viable option.

Last Dec the bus was free though. With them now charging to use it, I wonder if as many people would be using it. For a family of even just three people, it would probably be cheaper to rent a car than to use the shuttle now. It might not make a difference to some, but I bet alot of people that used to use the free shuttle, may now choose to rent a car.

I agree! We will be there in a little less than two weeks. This week I went through the Costco website and got a midsize car through Alamo for just $179.00 (all fees and taxes) for our eleven day trip. I'm hoping it might go down just a little more, but if not we can live with $16.00/day. Again that's with all taxes and fees so not bad. It would cost the three of us $18.00 per day to use the BC shuttle. Plus like you said, we like to have the rental car to do offsite stuff and having a rental car makes getting around WDW so much fast than the buses. I was down there in Sept also for a solo trip. I got a full size car for $148.00 for nine days, so again paid about $16.00/day. Since I was solo, I could have ridden the shuttle for just $6.00 per day, but it was worth the extra $10.00 per day to have the convenience of the rental car. I didn't use the shuttles, but when I was down there in Sept I did see them leaving the resort a couple of mornings. There did not seem to be hardly anybody using them.
