Just got back from our WDW trip and noticed signs for new WDW resort,Bonnet Creek. Any info??

It's actually not a Disney resort, but it is surrounded by Disney property.

The last time we were at WDW a few weeks ago, We were going to the DVC to look at getting more points. The DVC bus driver told us that was a hush hush deals where Disney sold the land to one of the big hotel chains for a lot of money. Seems true to me because we know walt but tons of land so no one could be near WDW like they are in DL.

"Bonnet Creek Resort is bordered on three sides by Walt Disney World. It is not owned by Disney, but is within the park gates. The concept was to set up a cluster of luxury hotels. They currently are being developed by Fairfield Resorts into timeshare units."

Timeshare rentals.

I would think its not put in your face because DVC timeshares.

And while there are many people very disneyania in the Orlando area, almost all the people I have met that are native Floridians (family and friends) they avoid Disney and know very little about it.. We were having breakfast outside the property one morning when one waitress said to the other - "That fancy Hotel - the Contemporary". The other waitress look at her and said very uppidty like - "NO the contemporary Hotel is the one with the big fish on top of it... you know.. that Swan!" I just about spit out my pancakes! So you really can't go by half of what you hear.

You can look up the Bonnet Creek info on the web.

are they selling the timeshares yet? has anyone bought yet???

if so, what are some of the figures?

Bonnet Creek Resort is a timeshare being developed by Fairfield Resorts. There is also going to be a golf course and a couple of very high end hotels on the property. The first timeshares units opened June '04 and are being built in phases.
The land was never owned by Disney, but by a private individual. Disney bought all the land surrounding the property to 'land lock' the owners and hoping one day to buy the property. When the property came up for sale Cendant Corp. (Fairfield's parent company) bought the land and had to buy right of way from Disney since the road leading into the complex is owned by Disney.
The building are hurricaine safe as we stayed there during Charlie last year. We were also there this past Easter week and will be there next Easter week. Reservations are very hard to come buy as it is one of Fairfield's premium properties, if not the top property.
We do own there but I do not feel it is appropriate to discuss the cost in a public setting. They have been selling for over 2 years now. If anyone would like more information please feel free to PM me.

Disney was forced by court order to grant right-of-way. This is true if you own a piece of property and the only way that you can get to it is through a neighbors property. They are required by law to grant you right-of-way. Fairfield had to take Disney to court to enforce it. I suspect Disney knew that it was going to lose but it delays the project and costs Disney very little.

Thanks for clarifying. I was just relaying what I had heard.

I do know that Disney was not happy with the loss of the land deal.

Hi, this thread brought me out of lurkdom at last and made me join up so I could ask a question: do you know if this resort has 3 bedroom units, or can join a 2-bed and 1-bed together? I am really liking the sound of this resort, but I couldn't get to the floor plans on the website without registering.

Bonnet Creek has 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units. Since it is a FF Points based resort you can decide what type of unit you want by how many points you have and are willing to spend. It is a great resort and far less costly to buy into than DVC.

they will try to sell you approximately 154,000 points and start high.....and then of course as with most time shares the price comes down as they try to entice you to buy from them through various first day incentives and creative use of point packages to get you in the door

it is not as exclusive as some would make it out to be, it has been on skyauction''s ready set go ( not lately though ) and can be had through rci exchanges ....although we are told that will change as more and more people buy from the developer

we exchanged in last year

when we were in branson at the fairfield there, bonnet creek was the property they were attempting to sell us .......the sales person said the resort was located within disney above "epcot".....of course we knew different .....the fairfield system did interest us but after exploring more it seemed too complicated.....we settled for HGVC to round out our portfolio

it is a very nice resort and top notch amenities, but they too will suffer with time and wear and tear

we would exchange and intend on using HGVC's exchange program through RCI to do so

There are 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units and there are also 4 bedroom Presidential suites. They do not have any units that you can combine or 'lockoffs' as they are called. We have stayed in the 1 and 2 bedroom units, they are spacious with nice balconies.

Bordered on three sides, yes. Within the gates.... NO.
It's true that you must first drive into WDW in order to reach Bonnet Creek, but it's still not "within the gates".
As you drive into the Bonnet Creek complex there could just as easily be a sign that said "Thanks for visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. Please come again."
It's not on Disney property, no matter how the slick Fairfield salesfolk try to spin it.
With that said, there's no denying that Bonnet Creek is a fine resort, with an exceptional location. :drinking:

Sounds the Bonnet Creek resort is kinda like the Swan or Dolphin but Without any of the perks. I think WDW will take that hotel over within the next few years.

Hi, huey578. Yes, except the S/D are on Disney property. I think I read they have a 99 year lease.
All are nice resorts! :drinking:

99 year lease is correct

Thanks tototoo and jilljill ... I will put it on our list of potential resorts to exchange into for our next trip.

We purchased at Bonnett Creek last year and will be staying for the first time over Thanksgiving. Has anyone stayed recently? I am curious about the construction going on. I know the pool is done, what about the gym, kids room, etc.? The Fairfield website talks about phases....I'm in real estate and know the time frame thats planned to complete a project is usually NOT what it turns out to be. Thanks!

The first pool, by the main building, has been finished since the resort opened last year. That's the one with the lazy river and kids water play area. There is also a pool table room and small arcade in the main building.
I don't think the playgrounds and other pools will be open anytime soon.
You will love the resort, have a great trip.
