Interested in opinions about having champagne for Sailaway on verandah. Those who have bought the package, were you glad you did or would you just carry on your own bottle next time? (Obvious issues of keeping it cold and having glasses vs overpaying)
There is also the option to buy a couple glasses from the bar beforehand (i assume) but then I remember rules about shops and bars while the ship is still in port...? Also DS8 will be with us so I dont want to have to spend much time in the bar. Do they have it at the top deck poolbars or only at the interior fancier bars?

Also, for the package (and rainforest day pass) I would need to Call to order vs being able to buy online, correct? My cruise is rapidly approaching!!

Thanks.

I have always decided to just buy a sail away drink. Between the two of us, I felt that a whole bottle would be too much and I am picky and don't like Champagne that has been open for a while.

The bars are open while the ship is in port. Not sure about the pool bar, but the Promenade Lounge on the Magic/Wonder and the Vista Cafe or the bar on deck 3 in the atrium on Dream/Fantasy are not adult only and serve Champagne. However, on Dream or Fantasy I would get something from the dedicated Champagne bars to have a real treat.

I wasn't a big fan of the selection of wine we received (Bon voyage) when we ordered the package last year. The prosecco was good enough (I've had better) but we did not like the other bottle.

On our last cruise we bought a drink instead. They have nice selections!

I agree I didn't like the wine so would gave rather brought my own when I did it

Our favorite thing is to just buy the drink of the day for sailaway -- you can even keep the souvenir glass. We're not champagne drinkers and only my husband drinks wine, so a whole bottle was too pricey for us.

As far as having a glass in my our room if you bring your own bottles, your stateroom host should be able to get one for you, or worst case you could bring back a glass you've been drinking from and use that during the week by just rinsing and hiding it.

Thanks for all the opinions so far. I think I agree with everything that has been said, so I will probably just bring a bottle on board and not worry about pouring the leftover sparkling wine out. The options for the package are just too vague "prosecco" with no brands or sweetness level listed. the rest of the weekI will be excited to try the cute looking Champagne bar, but I am picturing massive crowds at the bars between end of muster and sailaway. I love to watch the ship pull away so I don't want to be in line at the bar during that time.

i am thinking that I can order glasses from room service and order DS a Shirley Temple then too. ???

I understand. I am opposite though. Liquor does not sit well with me, so I dont drink any liquor at all, so I never buy a Drink of the Day, even though the glasses are tempting. I wish they would do sailaway DRink of the Day Champagne / wine options. Maybe they do??
Maybe I will try a nonalcoholic DOTD.

The glasses you can request from your room steward. Shirley temples are charged on room service just as a note.

With the drink of the day - they do a non-alcoholic one and you can get the glass with any drink (even a shirley temple I believe). There is also a drink that is made with rose wine up at the pool bar that is really nice and I had this in the DCL glass. However you can have drinks with or without it. Its called an Esquire and although has rum in I couldn't taste rum just wine. Really nice and refreshing
