We would like to try of these resturants on our next trip...Which one do you all recomend...

Thanks!!!!!

Wow, now this is truly a tough decision.

I would say if you were looking for something really really nice with great food and incredible wine, choose Jiko.

If you're looking for something a little more laid back and you're an adventurous eater, I'd say Boma.

Or you could be like me, and go to both (on different nights, of course.) Yeah, they are just that good!!

Let us know what you decide!

For me - its an easy answer to give ---- JIKO!!

I have done both - in fact, on my last trip (Sept 2001) we did Jiko first and loved it so much, we decided to return the next night for Boma -- what a disappointment!

Jiko --- fancy, romantic restaurant. No doubt a little pricey but all the restaurants in Disney are pricey. We had an amazing appetizer of these rolled meat cigars (don't know what they are called but our waiter recommended them) and I had the filet and my husband had a paypapa that was roasted with the same meat from the appetizers. One of the best meals we ever had --- and a giant stawberry shortcake that we split for dessert.

Boma --- a buffet so much more relaxed. If you are not an adventurous eater you will not like this place. The meat was cold and tough and the food choices were so atypical I had a hard time finding something I liked. For example, you go to make a salad - easy enough - but all of the dressings are not the type you would normally find (things like curry and lemon vingegrette) Anyway, I just did not enjoy it.

I am always amazed reading all the reviews on this board that rate Boma higher than Jiko. For my money, you can't beat Jiko - the food, the atmoshere, the waitstaff, the fancy factor...it is truly a top notch disney dining experience.

My husband and I just recently picked the rest of the restuarnats we would be dining in on our trip this September -- Jiko was in place however since the trip idea first originated - about 8 months ago!

We are dying to return to Jiko and I suggested that we just eat there several nights during our trip - but my more adventurous husband wants to try other places as well. I am dreaming about the cigar shaped meat appetizers (wish I could think of their name) and me and my husband have decided we are not going to split one this year - we are going to each get our own! They are that good.

So - in conclusion - sorry for the length of this post -- my opinion, (if you can't try both and have to pick) is JIKO!!!!

Have fun!

My DH and I always eat at Boma when we go to DW. We usually make it to DW about 5x per year. I have a 9 year old DS and he LOVES Boma. They have to die for ribs and roast beef.

Jiko without a doubt would be my choice. This is a much more upscale restaurant with much better food. I personally think Boma is way overrated, my DD though loves it so we usually will eat there once every couple of trips.

I would suggest Jiko. I'm sure Boma is good but we are not buffet people. We had an amazing meal at Jiko in December and therice was superior, not to mention the wonderful South African wines.

These are both great, great places. I love the choices at Bomas. Real seriously get stuffed on all kinds of great stuff, great suaces, really great choices all the way to desert. Jiko also has some of the best food on property. We have eaten at both and depending on how many people and what we feel like, we will go back to both many more times.

Both good. But we are fans of Boma's. It might just be the difference between buffett and not.

Boma is absolutely oustanding and a completely unique experience. That said we had the best meal we ever had at Jiko. Yes.....ever!!! And we lived in greater NY till our late 30's so we've been to a decent restaurant or two.

My answer would be Jiko. Awesome food.

Boma is a unique experience. DH is into trying new foods, I am not so I tend to stick with the kid foods when we eat here. But I absolutely adore the Zebra Domes. We found out that they sell the "extra" zebra domes in Mara. They are by the premade sandwiches in Mara.

Either one that you pick-Enjoy.

WOW, Tough Choice!

They are so different. On our last trip, we had decided to do Boma, and ended up going to Jiko also. We could not resist! They are both so wonderful and totally different, I think it is worth it to try both if time permits.
Good luck and Enjoy!!

FYI, if you show up in the lobby, near the fire pit just before 4 PM, you can join the tour of both places. They take you to the bar, to explain the beer and wines of Africa they have, then off to Jiko's where one of their chef explains about the food and you taste some appetizers, then off to Boma's. There the head chef explains every item on the buffet, with samples from the soups and desserts. We just did this last Sunday. I don't know if it is everyday, but it was just dumb luck, we were sitting waiting for some friends to joins us when a CM told us to be at the pit at 4. What a great way to find out what each of these wonderful restaurants has to offer.
