Now that I have P&PP tickets for April 11'th I had to cancel my Sci Fi reservation for that evening. I did mange to book Boma on April 14'th. We will be in Animal Kingdom this day, but when I booked the dinner the CM told me to allow 1 hour travel time, how long will it take me to get there from Animal Kingdom? Any short cuts?

When you come out of AK, get on the bus that says AK lodge and it will take about 10 min. max to get there. We allowed about 30 min. just for extra time to go out the back side to the AK lodge to see the animals feeding at 4:30pm. This was the BEST place we ate at last week by far!!!:)

:thumbsup2

Were doing the same thing, staying at AK for the day with Boma ADR at night. We also are leaving ourselves 1 hour to get there just in case. We've never been to AK lodge so exploring will be a option if were there early. I can't wait to try this meal.:woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

Boma is terrific. I highly doubt you'd actually need an hour to get to the Lodge from AK, but better to be safe then sorry.

There is an express bus going from the AK to the AKL. Allow 45 minutes to an hour. As a PP said, if you get there early, just explore a little. It's beautiful.

The randomness of WDW transportation is always a factor. The ride itself is very short and the bus doesn't stop anywhere else, so it can reasonably be called an "express" bus - you should be at the lodge in about 10 minutes from the time the bus pulls away from the curb.

However, you could wait anywhere from 0 to 30 minutes for a bus to show up (yes, I waited 30 minutes at AK for a bus to AKL once). You could also find the bus at the stop, but the drivers are changing shifts and the bus waits 5-10 minutes before leaving the stop. That's not a long time unless you are in a hurry to get somewhere.

I would plan for at least 45 minutes, to include wait time, when going ANYWHERE on WDW bus transportation. As the previous posters suggested, if you get there early, exploring the lodge is very enjoyable.

If you don't want to allow 45 minutes, the only short cuts are to drive yourself if you have a car, or take a taxi.

When you leave, you will have to take the bus to either a park or Downtown Disney to switch to a bus for your resort. You won't be able to get a direct bus from AKL to any other resort.
