Boma: good choice for a family of 7?

Hi all...

I like to try new things, but my family generally does not. I'll be travelling with my parents, my brothers (23 and 17), my sister (21) and my daughter (5).

I have read so many great things on these boards that Boma is awesome, so how "adventurous" is the menu?

Help!!!

It is only as adventurous as you want it to be. There is plenty of "regular" food that would please a picky eater ie: prime rib, chicken,ribs, fish....plus all the normal kid offerings as well. Fantastic CM's, desserts to die for, great press-pot coffee.

The flavors of the offerings at Boma are complex but not necessarily "spicy,- in the HOT sense". It is a beautiful resort and a fun restaurant atmoshere. Our family of 6 have enjoyed it EVERY time.

I hope you try it. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

I have been their 2 times for dinner and 2 times for breakfast and I LOVED IT! one dinner and one breakfast was w/ kids ranging from 4-8 y/o an a VERY FUSSY adult eater and all enjoyed the food selection.

There are many unique to the "regions "dishes but it is balanced with regular dishes that you find at many of the other buffets at WDW.


I think it will be a perfect choice for your party the food is GREAT!!!!

My mom's not very adventurous but she liked it enough to agree enthusiastically after dinner to return the next morning for breakfast (we were staying at Coronado Springs, so it involved a drive!)

As said above, worst case scenario is that the pickiest eaters have spaghetti and sauce, chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese, french fries, bread and butter, soup, etc.

But we found that the dishes were marked very clearly with ingredients and most of them weren't the least bit "scary" or particularly exotic. It might be chicken and rice, but with a different kind of spice. You take a spoonful. Then you take a spoonful of potatos prepared a different way. You take your dish of tiny little servings back to your seat, and start sampling.

Odds are you're going to hop up and return to your seat with a new dish full of one or two of the items you adored.

Hey,

We eat at Boma's every time we go to WDW. We always have a party of eight and it's wonderful. Several of us are not adventous eaters and we love it. There's always something that everyone can eat. Don't worry.

every visit to WDW and love it! I would think that for a group the size of yours, it would really be great with all the choices. The food is delicious and the quality is excellent!

EXCELLENT choice!!!! Boma is on of our favs. You'll find plenty for everyone to enjoy. The soups (there are 5 different) are incredible. The desserts to die for. One suggestion would be to get an early PS and after dinner take a long tour of AKL its breathtaking. And you may be able to catch an African folk tale at the firepit.

Personally, If I were traveling with a family of 7, I'd hit `Ohana. I don't know if you already have it planned or not, but that would be my first and second choice. haha. But Boma also sounds good for a large group. That, and Teppayaki Japan in Epcot. You all will get your own table which is awsome!!!

I'll be the naysayer. We were disappointed with Boma. The buffet is extensive, but its a buffet. The soups were awesome, but the prime rib not very good, the salmon overcooked. The much raved about desserts were not very good either (but I have a very picky dessert palate). There is a TON of food on the buffet - a lot of salads, grains, hummus - food we love - but the couscous is better at Marrakesh and the hummus nothing to write home about. However, with 80-odd things on the buffet, you will find something to like (even if you need to make eighteen trips up to find it). It was difficult to manage two preschoolers through the buffet line, feed them, and still attend to our own needs.

However, our other restaurant selections were all sit down (except Biergarten, which was our arrival meal and we were famished - old tennis shoes would have tasted good! - Biergarten was better than old tennis shoes, but I was too hungry to judge much more than that).
