Boma for picky eaters?

We're leaving in less than two weeks, so this may be a moot point if we can't get ADRs anyway.
We stayed at AKL last time, and loved Boma's for breakfast, but were a little intimidated by the dinner menu.
We have a night without ADRs, (first night), and were either considering getting CS at Pepper Market at the hotel, or traveling over to AKL for dinner at Boma.
My concern is that I tend to be a picky eater. No red meat, cautious with anything 'weird'. Will I like Boma? I eat lots of veggies, chicken, pork, and of course I could always just eat desert and call it a day. :)
Also, I loved the juice they served at breakfast. Do you think if I asked they would allow me to order it for dinner? (Strange to drink juice with dinner, but I loved that juice).

TIA,
Jen

Boma has a very wide, vast menu that will suit a lot of different tastes. And since it is all you care to eat, you can sample things you may not order at TS and if you don't enjoy it you don't feel like you have to finish. It's a great dining option!

Good luck trying to get an ADR at Boma's for dinner. I've been trying for over 5 weeks to get a ressie for the night we arrive at AKL (Sept. 27) for our party of TWO and NOTHING!!! I call each and every single day and still no luck. :sad2:

Hmmm, you'd have to define picky, I guess.

If I were what I define as a picky eater (liking very similar things and not fond of trying anything new), I'd stay away. You're unlikely to find, as extensive as Boma's buffet is, much in the way of "comfort food".

If you're picky in the sense that you just have a very discerning palette, you'll be fine. There are lots of interesting dishes, everything tastes different, and you're likely to find SOMETHING (probably lots of somethings) on the buffet that appeals to you. Because everything is very, very, very good. If you have even a slightly adventurous palette, you're probably not going to be disappointed.

Oh, and on the Frunch (I'm assuming that was the juice you liked at breakfast)....the last time we ate there (back in January) they weren't offering the Frunch as a dinner beverage selection. However, the previous 3 times we'd eaten there, they had, so it won't hurt to ask.

Kimmar just returned from AKL this past week and posted this :sad2: :

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Frunch is NO LONGER AVAILABLE...however, they DO offer 'jungle juice' in its place....it's guava, papaya, and orange juice mixed together....

I say you won't know if you like it if you don't try it. There will be some things you won't like, but there are lots of interesting things to try. You may be surprised what you wind up loving. :teeth:

You might get an ADR. We ate there twice, and our second ADR was made while we were at WDW. Good luck!

I'm not a picky eater ... but I had a hard time finding anything I liked at Boma's. The dishes were either cinnamony sweet (sorry but cinnamon and chicken don't mix with me) or coffee flavored. I felt like I was the only one until someone else on another board told me they agreed and felt like "a huge can of coffee and cinnamon exploded in the kitchen" and I felt that was a very accurate description.

I ate the kids chicken fingers. Thank goodness they took my meal off the bill as I had to order room service later that night!

DH was not thrilled either. He filled up on some stew (that again I didn't like because it was sweet-ish) and called it a night.

From what I do understand they rotate the menu so one night is different from the next.

Many people love it. Many people who profess to be picky love it.

Go figure .. I'm odd. :confused3

I don't think of myself as picky but I'm not a huge meat fan either and I love Boma. There's always a fish and a chicken dish and, for me anyway, the soup and salad selections are the best at any Disney buffet. I also love the different breads and the several types of hummus dips. The fruit selection has always been wonderful whenever we were there too. I don't remember much about the desserts or beef/pork selections but these are DH's specialities and he really likes the buffet. He's an uber-carnivore, a strictly meat and potatoes guy, and Boma is one of his favorites.

I am very picky and love going to Boma. I mean picky as in I don't care for vegetables and onions in my food picky. I always end up getting full though. I love sampling the soups (I eat the liquid and meat part) and I actually discovered hummus (had never had it before) at Boma. So I do like to try new things. And if I don't get full on the entrees and side dishes, I eat a lot of the banana bread pudding with warm vanilla sauce!

Thanks for all the replies.
We're going to give it a try. And guess what, I called for ADRs, and they said we could have about any time. This is for a party of 4 on 9/3.
Yay :cool1:
Thanks again.
