Boma crowd and noise level

I like the idea of trying Boma for dinner, but I'm not sure it'd be a good fit. How crowded and loud is it in comparison to, say...Tusker House? That was about as loud as I could stand. Any advice appreciated.

I found Boma to be a lot louder than Tusker House. It opens up into the lounge on the higher floor so that can add to the noise. When we there some of the CMs were doing a parade with the kids beating drums in the lobby overhead, since it's all open that just added to what felt like a 3 right circus to us.

Boma is super loud and super busy...we went last Oct at 4:45 and the place was jammed with people and the line for the meat station was 15-20 ppl deep! It was crazy busy and crazy loud, breakfast is nothing like that

I have never eaten at Tusker House, so I can't compare the two. However, we ate at Boma this past Jan/Feb, and I don't recall it being very loud or crazy. Our dinner resrv. were at 7:00. It was definitely busy, but nothing sticks out in my memory as being annoying as far as noise. Now the Whispering Canyon at WL is one place that drives me crazy due to the noise.

We ate at Boma for dinner last year during free dining and found it to be quite relaxing and quiet, so it must depend on your particular circumstances. We had an early dinner (about 5:30) so that might have been a factor. We just loved it. It was one of our favorite meals!

Location can make a big difference at Boma.

And I think Boma gets a lot of large groups. Table talk at large tables is almost always loud.

Boma is louder than Tusker House. Tusker is 2 section where BOMA is one open space. I think Boma holds more people. Hope this helps

I didn't see no big deal about the noise level. It's Disney your in a resturant with I'm sure lots of kids. We always had a great meal here.

We were there in April and it was very crowded but I didn't notice it being any louder than any other restaurant. We were there at the busiest time of year so everywhere was packed. That being said, NOTHING could keep me out of Boma, I love love love their food and would endure any crowd/noise to have it once a year :cool1:

I haven't eaten at TH but can't recall Boma being particularly noisy. We were a large group, maybe that made a difference, but I found it quite relaxing.

What they said.

We've been twice, the first time a table of 4 near a window and that was very nice. The second time we left the kids and tried for a dinner for two--too busy to be anything close to romantic, but the chance to eat the food without having to serve and supervise the children was worth it!

It's definitely open, but personally I don't find that sort of "large space" noisy as invasive as tables too close together, if that makes sense.

That said, being by a window was definitely a calmer location, and if you don't mind waiting, you could ask for that when you check in.

Boma-Flavors of Africa is my favorite restaurant on all of Disney World property. It can be a bit noisy if you dine early (for example, anywhere between 4pm and 7:30pm), but if you can hold out for a later dinner, you'll find the noise and crowds greatly reduce. We typically dine between 8pm and 8:30pm. This gives us a full day at Animal Kingdom, and time to browse in the gift shop at the DAK lodge just before dining. Be sure to try the Fu Fu (tastes like pumpkin pie), their great selection of salads (I love the watermelon rind salad, avocado and grapefruit salad, or any greens with their chili cilantro dressing), seafood gumbo, and their desserts (their zebra domes and chocolate mousse are the best)! Enjoy!

Thanks for the advice, everybody. It sounds like my best chances are to try to get in as late as possible and to ask for an out of the way table. I'll see if I still feel like eating there in November.
Thanks again!
