Is an ADR a must if you arrive when the restaurant opens at 7:30am and you are solo? Looking to try this mid-week the end of May. Thanks.

There's always a chance you'll be turned away, even as a party of one. If you know of definitely want to eat breakfast there at a certain time, make an adr.

at that hour it is likely to be accommodated. However, I would make the ADR unless you are on the fence about showing up (hate to pay the no show fee!!)

If you have a phone you can use, pull up the app as you head to the restaurant and check for a reservation. Then you do not have to worry. If you have no phone, stop at concierge at AKL to check first on your way to the restaurant. I see many Boma reservations available for early mornings.

I tend to just go ahead and grab an ADR as I head to a restaurant as I can just check in and not have to worry about being behind other walk ups waiting.

Our last trip fresh from the airport, we headed to the wave. It was about 10 am. We were told they were not taking walk ups. We walked out to the lobby and made an ADR. Walked back in. Waited 5 mins and was seated. I don't understand the logic of not taking walk ups in this case.

WOW you were turned away from breakfast at The Wave, was it a holiday? I'm shocked, we have never had an issue getting in for breakfast even when we didn't have ADRs and that's usually around the time we go...guess the novelty is getting out...:earseek:

Thanks for the tip. I will probably go with this approach. I won't know for sure until that morning if I can do this for sure since I'm coming from off site.

And the room wasn't busy at all.

We don't make ADRs for breakfast first day in case flight is delayed.
