BoG Solo - Last-Minute Reservation Tips?

I've decided fairly last-minute to try to celebrate my birthday at the end of the month with dinner at BoG. I know the only way to get a reservation at this point is to just keep checking, especially as the date gets closer and people start to cancel.

What I'm curious about is whether it makes a difference whether I list that I have a party of 2 or a party of 1 - as in, will it give me a preference if I say I'm going to use a full 2-person table, or will it give the same options even if it knows I'm solo. Now that I'm typing this out, I feel like I'm probably over-thinking it, but I just don't want to spend any more time than I need to trying to get this reservation. I'd love to have it in place so that I can stop thinking about it.

On a related note, if I end up completely unable to get a reservation, is there any chance of getting into dinner at BoG as a walkup? As in, if there's a no-show or last-minute cancellation, there might end up be an opening for me anyway? Or is that too rare to count on, even as a solo diner?

This is the first time I've ever attempted an ADR, so I'm sort of floundering a bit about the best way to handle this. I really would like to get BoG, though, instead of any of the other restaurants.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

Disney's ADR system sometimes offers different availability for 2 people vs. 1, so it can't hurt to search both. I recommend signing up for a TouringPlans account and using their reservation finder - it works quite reliably and has helped me snag reservations for BoG as cancellations occur. IIRC Disney won't charge you a no-show fee as long as one person from your reservation arrives for the meal.

If you want to try your hands at a walkup meal, I'd recommend arriving early or late and checking with the host stand - worst they can tell you is no, but I'd set my expectations low. I think that strategy is much more likely to work before 5pm or after 8pm. You're much more likely to be able to get an advance reservation through a last-minute cancellation, though.

Great, that's all really helpful - thank you! I'm signed up for the alerts from TouringPlans (I didn't know there was a way to do that for free before), so hopefully I'll be able to get one through there. Thanks!
