BOG is quite a magical place I must say. It has definitely taken Disney dining to the next level...especially for a CS lunch place...:goodvibes

This is a summary version of an extensive review I wrote on my website. You can find that extensive review (lots of photos of the restaurant and the rooms and more food) here:

Here is a quicker summary with some photos from our lunch:

First, I must say, I was ready for a long wait although I was reading on the boards that the line could make the wait look really long (if that makes sense;)). We arrived at 11 am and the line wasn't bad, it was just curved around the entrance into the walkway by the front gate. There was a CM giving out menus while you waited in line (very smart)...

It only took about 20 min. to get to the room with the ordering kiosks where you are given a rose locator (like a pager) so the servers can locate where you are when they bring out your food. I love that! How nice to not have to carry around a tray! And you get to eat with silverware, not plastic. The only thing you have to get yourself is your beverage (unless you order bottled water).

We sat in the Rose Gallery and were served our food about 30-35 min after we first got in line (not so bad).

I started with the potato leek soup which was tasty-

And then had the quiche was I liked, I heard it was bland, but I disagree, I thought it was good although the accompanying salad could have used a little more to it (maybe a few grape tomatoes and/or carrot shreds??) But it was fresh and plentiful.

DD decided to try something new, she usually sticks to the kids menu (still, even at 14!) but she got the Croque Monsuier, unfortunately she didn't like the multi-gran bread, too much grain for her...we kind of traded, I liked her sandwich so if you don't mind the multi-grain bread it's pretty good (she skipped the bechamel sauce that usually comes on it).

Then came the Triple Chocolate cupcake, it was just ok, had a weird texture so it was a bit disappointing. Would try the cream puff next time.

Here are some of the other cupcakes (and the French Onion soup).

This restaurant is magical, the nice thing about lunch is you can wander around and take photos and take in all of the magical atmosphere, not sure you can do this at dinner without disturbing guests dining. Be sure to check out a lot more photos and details of the restaurant itself, the rooms and more food photos on my dining review website:

So all of the rooms ARE open for lunch? I've found different reports of this and I'd rather do lunch than dinner but I want to see it "all".. lol

Yes all of the rooms are opened at lunch, at least when we were there a week or so ago. I agree not worrying if you don't have a dinner ADR, I think lunch is easier to tour the rooms than it would be at dinner.

At lunch you just have the people serving the food as opposed to servers taking orders, filling drinks, wines, etc and serving food (at dinner). I would think it would be tougher or possibly disruptive to walk around and look at everything and take pictures, etc., then and I have heard reports that not all the rooms are opened at dinner anyway.

The only drawback at lunch is you do have to set aside time to wait, like I said our wait wasn't bad at all but we got in line at 11 and honestly the line was not much longer when we were leaving the restaurant around 12:15 but during peak season this could be different.

I consider it like an adventure. Many wait 45-60 min for some of the rides/adventures @ MK, right...I'd consider this right up there with some of those.:thumbsup2

Can I ask if you know how the lunch menu works on the quick service dining plan? I assume you wouldn't get the starter, just main, desert and beverage! :confused3

Many thanks,

Debs x

Josie, Mom and I are having lunch there on May 19th and I did plan to get there at 11:00am. We are just going to skip breakfast that day and have an early lunch.

The food looked yummy! I can not wait to try the French onion soup!:cloud9:

We also know we want the cream puff for dessert.

We also have an ADR for dinner at BOG later in our trip so I am anxious to see how the experience will differ?

Thanks again...Love the pics!!:thumbsup2

Lucky you guys with dinner ressies at BOG!! They're like "gold".:thumbsup2:thumbsup

Their French Onion Soup looked very good, wonder how it stands up to Le Chefs?? The Potato Leek was very good...next time I am DEFINITELY going for the cream puff!::yes::

Silly question, but how did they know where you were to deliver your meal to you?
Krista

Quick question:
What would be a good time to get in line for lunch? (We've been unable to get those "gold" ADR's for dinner...)
And - as far as the line etiquette goes - should the entire party line up together, or would it be acceptable for 1 person to serve time in line (we're a party of 5).
Thanks!

In 4 WDW trips I've never done a CS meal, but I think I might try this one! It looks so much better than burgers and fries.
