BOG Lunch vs. BOG Dinner?

Which would you choose? I was able to grab a lunch reservation (and already had an early dinner reservation for the same day). I’m going to drop one of them.

Pros for dinner (4:10 pm) - more flexible park arrival time if kids decide they’d like to swim late morning before heading to the park.

Cons - 2 credits.

Pros for lunch - good value of QS credit. Shorter dining experience.

Cons - Less flexibility as far as arrival time. Currently have an 11:20 am reservation, but would try to push it back to 11:45 am - 12:00 pm. Our first FP of the day is from 12:05 - 1:05 pm at 7DMT. I’m hoping with preorder it wouldn’t take longer than 45 mins.

We will be at MK DAH the night before so will need a late start. TY for your thoughts!

I was leaning toward lunch, but this is our first ever trip so I’m really not sure what is worth it and isn’t. TY!

The menu for dinner doesn't interest me, especially with the recent changes. I really like a few of the lunch options, so it's an easy choice for me. Plus dinner is so crazy expensive. The castle is amazing, but not that amazing.
I prefer sitting in the ballroom, DD16 loves the West Wing. I just like sitting against the back wall in the ballroom, opposite the windows, and I can sit there for hours just enjoying the ambiance. Love it in there.

I have been for lunch 10 times.
I have not been for dinner and likely never will.

I find lunch very much worth it. I like the menu options, I like that you seat yourself, I like that I can pre-order, I like that it doesn't have to take up a lot of park time, I like that my food is brought to me, I like that it feels very table service even though its quick service.
Its an extremely good use of a QS credit.

To me dinner seems very wasteful. I don't like what's on the menu, I don't like that you sit where they tell you, I don't like that they may run behind meaning you have to wait to eat, I don't like that it takes so much park time, I don't like that it uses 2 TS credits when its the same overall atmosphere as a one QS credit for lunch.

I guess I would just make a unilateral decision about getting there on time and too bad if someone wanted to swim that morning. I'm not meaning that in a rude way but more just like hey kids you can swim this morning instead lol.

We really like lunch. It’s inside, air conditioned, self serve drinks but food is delivered on real plates with real utensils.

I wasn’t interested in dinner before and now that it’s 2 TS or $60 I’m even less interested.

DDP = breakfast & lunch, not dinner
OOP = lunch & maybe dinner, not breakfast

If I were doing DAH night before I would for sure go with lunch. Sleep in, get on over to park, early lunch. That way towards end of day if we are tired or want to shift plans we aren't committed to a table service meal. I'd rather go back for swim break to re-energize for evening.

I have a question about BOG dinner - we just made an ADR for 4:30pm and one of the things noted in the confirmation email was "Characters are not available during this time of day."

When our daughters went for dinner in 2017 they were able to get pictures with the Beast - is this not possible with a 4:30 reservation and only after 6:00pm or similar time?

Thanks

We had dinner there the day before Thanksgiving at 4:30 and he was meeting guests the same way he did before the change to pre-fixe.

I have done dinner twice (once before pre-fixe and once after--in fact, just last week) and lunch once. I prefer dinner for the food. We did just pay $54/person (with a DVC discount) for dinner but it was just the two of us. While we enjoyed it, it will probably be a while before we go again. I enjoyed it more when it was al a carte. I did not enjoy lunch at all, but it may be what I ordered. I'm willing to try lunch again and choose a different option. That's likely what I will pick next Thanksgiving when we take the whole family. There will be six of us, and no way will I pay $54/person then!

With the Dining Plan I would definitely do the lunch! Actually even if you did not have the DDP I would do lunch. The dinner, since it has become a 2 credit signature, is so not worth the value! I cannot believe that they even think that is a signature experience. Lunch is a great value if you are on the dining plan. It is a quick service credit. I especially love the braised pork dish, it is so good.

You've decided already but just wanted to weigh in that on DDP I'd definitely do the lunch. It is also the only QS location in the MK where you can get a glass of wine or beer with QS... that along with the near TS-quality level entrees (at least plaza level) makes it a great value on the DDP.

If you are not crazy for the beast I would never spend 2TS to go there, it's a horrible value.

Paying OOP, the evening meal at BoG, isn't a bad deal. If you are using the DDP, its a terrible deal.
If you are using DDP, then go with lunch. You still see the castle, you just don't get to meet the beast.
Lunch is more of a QS type meal.

We love the lunch, especially the braised pork and the french onion soup. We had both ressies also the first time we went after they opened, but quickly cancelled the dinner after eating a lunch there.

Dinner at BOG is on my “Never Eating There” list. The menu and prices are very unappealing to me. I’ve eaten there many times for beakfast and lunch, with lunch being my favorite.

Went there last Saturday night and left upon check in. Our fault we did not realize it changed to pre fix menu but 60 per person is totally ridiculous and the menu choice even more. Many people were leaving in front of us as well.
