Bodyglide with sunscreen?

Hi.

Has anyone used the Bobyglide with Sunscreen? My son has a very fair complexion with red hair. He burns very easily. He is always getting sunscreen in his eyes because the sunscreen runs. I read on the bodyglide website that it does not run if applied on the face. I would appreciate any feedback on this product before I buy it.

I used it and thought it worked very well at Easter. Didn't burn a bit -- BUT -- I do not have a fair complexion, and so I can't speak for how it will work with your son. My eldest daughter is one of the fairest people I know, however, and she used the Bodyglide some of the days we were at WDW and it seemed to work for her. But she wasn't consistent, and some days used regular suncscreen.

It is "stickier" than lotion -- leaves a bit of a 'coating' on the skin, which some may not appreciate. But it doesn't run, and lasts a very long time. I would give it a try, and keep some of the traditional SPF XX (whatever your favorite is) close by for a backup.

I found a sunscreen stick for my little one this year because he's always rubbing it into his eyes. It looks like a gluestick (and feels like it when you're putting it on), but it works.

The bodyglide is not a stable sunscreen, which means that it breaks down in heat...so you'd need to reapply far more often than if you chose a stable sunscreen. Hawaiian Tropic makes a stick (it's in a pink container), but if your son's eyes burn, enough heat will cause the product to run into his eyes --espeically if he sweats. Your best best is to get a physical sunscreen like Blue Lizard Baby or Mustella.

I second the sunscreen that looks like a gluestick! Works great! I can't find it at the moment but I am fairly certain it was Coppertone Waterbabies spf 50.

For my DS I use the Banana Boat Kids that is tear free (the one we have is 50 SPF), so if he gets it in his eyes, it doesn't hurt. Also makes it easier to apply to the top of his hands so they don't burn (he is always rubbing his eyes, and before I couldn't put sunscreen on his hands because it always burned his eyes when he rubbed them). He hasn't had any problems with it. And it lasts a long time, too. He was playing in his little kiddie pool last weekend for over 4 1/2 hours before I realized that I hadn't reapplied. I freaked a little, because it was the first time this summer that he had really spend any kind of time in the sun with his shirt off. No worries, not a single pink area on him. I was amazed!

NoSun makes a sunscreen stick that is SPF 45. It's a $1 and it reminds me of a glue stick, but wider. I've put it on myself, my three year old daughter, and my one year old son when we went to the zoo. Everyone came back without sunburns. I'm pretty ghostly white, so I recommend it.
