If you don't know his results for downhill yet, DON'T READ.....

(spoiler below...)

So he finished with a big disappointment. He was out late drinking the night before his big event. I think that shows a lack of respect for your team, the sport, and the games. Even in high school football, you aren't supposed to go out the night before.

I'm sorry, but this kid is an idiot.

Although I agree he is an IDIOT! I also think he has a problem. It seems lately his drinking and partying has out got out of hand. He has let the success of his career get out of hand until he no longer has a career.

You can bet his stock value has just dropped off!!

How does he expect to win ANYTHING while under the effects of alcohol? :confused3 What an IDIOT! :sad2: Way to go.....

Just curious, how does everyone know that he was out drinking the night before?? :confused3 Not saying it didn't happen, just wondering...

After watching the Olympics over the years, it seems like the athletes who get a lot of hype end up falling short in their competitions.

Well, as a friend of mine said awhile ago..."Hey, he grew up in a house (shack) in the middle of the NH woods, no electricity, or running water...parents were aging hippies...homeschooled and allowed to do whatever/whenever he pleased..why would anyone be surprised by his behavior?" Now, don't get me wrong...there are a lot of homeschooled kids, growing up in NH with liberal parents that don't seem to be running amuck, but come on, but Bodie is, well Bodie. I'm not even sure he is at all thrilled to be in Italy. Yep, big disservice to his teammates, but his upbringing is a huge contributing factor to his success. He is a talented skiier, who is really just a spoiled brat. Time will tell how his story ends.

I'm amazed he could find time to fit a drinking binge into his busy schedule of whining to the press about how horrible the Olympic village and his accommodations are. :rolleyes2

Bode spotted at bar drinking late Saturday
Controversial skier skips inspection run before Sunday's downhill race

SESTRIERE, Italy - World champion Bode Miller skipped the inspection run for Sunday’s Olympic downhill race, preferring to stay in his mobile home until barely an hour before the start.

A member of Reuters Olympic team spotted the American in a Sestriere bar drinking with friends until midnight on Saturday.

Miller, who is entering all five Alpine skiing events at the Turin Olympics, provoked controversy earlier this season when he told a television interviewer he had sometimes been in poor shape at the start of World Cup races after nights out partying.

Journalists saw Miller leave the mobile home which he prefers to the Olympic Village soon after 11 a.m., leaving him less than an hour to get to the start of the race.

Miller had a disappointing run in the downhill on Sunday, finishing in fifth place

"Miller said he "had a couple beers but then was in early" Saturday night. Ever on his own terms, Miller skipped a chance to inspect the hill Sunday morning."

Very disrepectful to all those who sponsored him or his events, IMO. It costs big bucks to be an Olympic athlete.

Wow, it is a chance of a lifetime to win an Olympic title.

You can drink any old time. I don't understand it.

What a waste! And what a purposeful life he could be leading with so many young people looking up to him.

I don't know him of course, but from what I have seen of him, he always seemed like a jerk.

VickiVm - that picture is AWESOME!

From what I understand, Bode has always been like this. Hopefully the sponsors knew what they were getting.

By the way, the skiing competition and those who did win were great. I love the skiing!

Who has a Nike commercial whining? Him. You think he would be getting this attention if he wouldn't be whining? Heck no, he would just be another skier. He knows exactly how to get his 15 minutes.

Oh please, he's a young guy who skis well, and I don't think he's aspiring to be anything else. He says he doesn't care about the money he could make through sponsors, and he made no excuses for finishing 5th. He thought he skied well. Could y'all ski better? Why not let the guy ski and let the guy be?

So what, he goes out and drinks and meets girls. If you were a young guy in Italy, don't you think you would want to carouse with some Italian girls?

Oh whatever. Believe me, I'm all for drinking and having a good time, but even I know to stop the night before I have a huge meeting.

With all his trash-talk, this really is a fitting end. :teeth:

Sure he doesn't care about the money. Hmmm I wonder how much he was paid to use those untested ski's that he used yesterday? I mean since the other skiers turned the maker down because they hadn't been tested. But hey Brodie strapped them own and came in at a wonderful 5th place!

But then again it's a good thing he doesn't care abou the money. I'm sure there won't be a many offers after his mess up yesterday.

I'll let the guy be, when he stops being a drunken role model for kids!

Holy moly. Who elected him to be a role model anyway?

If he was out the night before drinking, that was his decision. It was his decision to strap on a pair of skis that he used once (they were not untested). It was his teammate who would have used the skis untested.

I dunno there is something about him. But then I do have a thing for bad boys.

You people do realize Miller skies in 5 events? His teammate, Rahlves, who finished below him was actually favored over him in this event.
