We've never had dinner at Boatwrights, but, their breakfasts are excellent......I have read here on the boards though that their dinners are sometimes good....sometimes not so, but, then again .....that's just someone's opinion.....I really think you need to try for yourself .....however www.allearsnet.com does have all the menus online so it's very easy to check the menu and see if it appeals to you.
We've had dinner and breakfast there. I think they do a better breakfast than dinner. Dinner isn't bad, but it's not excellent, either. I had the jambalaya this past trip(8/11-8/17) and wasn't impressed. The cornbread is pretty good, though.
We were staying at POR and had an ADR for Boatwrights that we ended up cancelling (and getting an ADR for Shutters in its place). The look of the restaurant didn't really appeal to us, so we chose another instead. Who knows, the food may have been great. We may try it in the future.
We just loved Boatrights for dinner. Our waiter was the best one that we have had ANYWHERE! (robert???) He allowed our 4 and 6 year olds to order an adult appetizer and when we only ordered 3, instead of the 4 that we were "entitled" to, he suggested a bowl of fruit for the kids. Same with dessert- we got it to go and ordered 3- he suggested a bottle of Evian instead of a 4th dessert and sent us out with cups, forks, knives, and napkins. Needless to say we tipped him above the DDP gratuity. The food was really good, but if you ate like that every night, you would need a triple bypass (or a gastric bypass for that matter!) Email if you have any questions!
Staying and POR and having one dinner at Boatwright's. The first few posts here really had me reconsidering, but I'm really thinking we'll like it. Crossing fingers.....
We have eaten at Boatwrights 2 times. Both times were fantastic. My DD wasn't thrilled with her ravioli, but DH and I got the pot roast and it was to die for. There was so much, I couldn't eat mine, but DH had no problem polishing mine off also. DD and I each had the chocolate cake for dessert. It was yummy. It had some kind of raspberry sauce. DH was done in with all the pot roast, so he passed on dessert. I truly think its one of the best kept secrets at WDW.

We ate dinner at Boatwrights in March, it was okay, nothing fabulous or outstanding...just okay. I am not sure that we would make the effort to eat there again, there are so many different restuarants in WDW, we would be more likely to try someplace else.
We ate at Boatwrights last week. The shrimp cocktails were delicious however, the prime rib was not good at all. I'm sure they have better entrees though and we would eat there again. The pecan pie and chocolate cake were both really good too.
We make a special trip here to have breakfast when we're at WDW. Sweet Potato pancakes are great as is french toast. My wife likes the omelets. Very relaxing too
We both had prime rib/baked potato, the shrimp cocktail and the french onion soup for appetizers. We asked the server to wrap up a piece of chocolate cake to go and ate that later (yummy!)
I think the food was excellent and our server was too. I wouldn't go there looking for a great atmosphere, but if you are staying there, I would definitely recommend it.
We chose to eat elsewhere for the next 2 nights because we were only in FL for 3 nights and wanted to try other places, so we went to Kona Cafe and Crystal Palace for new places for us.
We've eaten at Boatwrights and enjoyed it. The ribs were good at dinner. Check out the menus, though, to see if there is availability of foods your family will like.
When we ate there for breakfast, DH got an item that he thought was undercooked and he was ill later in the day. In Boatwright's defense, DH ought to have pointed the dish out to our server and ask for a replacement rather than eat suspect food.
Boatwrights can get quite busy for dinner since it is the only TS restaurant for POR and POFQ.
If you're staying at POR or POFQ, I also suggest taking the ferry down to DTD for dinner.
