Planning our first trip and a bit overwhelmed (to say the least!!!).

We have one day that I've planned as a rest day - we're going to laze at the resort, and head over to DTD for lunch and shopping. I thought that as its our "day off" after several hectic park days, it might be nice to catch the boat to POR at the end of the day and have dinner at Boatwright's - looks a bit quieter than most places and I figure the kids (8 and 6) will be ready for a break. They are also very fussy eaters, but DD does love a nice steak!

HOWEVER, we do have CM dining discount at many places, but not at Boatwright's. Is it worth going there anyway, or should I just skip it and find somewhere else? Any other suggestions for somewhere quieter, cosy (going in Dec) and with good, plain kids options?

Kind of a tough call actually. Whenever people ask about Boatwright's I always say if you're staying at POR then check it out, otherwise, I wouldn't make a special trip to go there.

But, the boat ride from DTD to POR is fun, and it is possible to get a nice steak meal at Boatwright's plus have the Abita beer selection, so I imagine you would have a nice time. The POR food court is just steps away so I suppose your kids could get food from there after if they are really picky.

The decor at Boatwright's is just okay. Also, it is open to the main traffic area for the food court and adjacent to the bar, so it's not enclosed and might not be quiet per se. But I don't think it ever gets really busy if that's the kind of quiet you're looking for.

If you're at DTD, I always suggest Wolfgang Puck Express on the Marketplace side. Really good food and it's fast because it's a quick service place. The pizza is really good but not too fancy if that will cater to your kids' tastes.

Thanks jcarwash! I didn't realize it was open to the food court and bar - maybe not the vibe I was looking for... By the way, thanks also for your Wolfgang Puck suggestion - that's one of the few menus I hadn't checked out and it looks yummy. :thumbsup2

if you were looking for a table service place, how about Wolfgang Puck Cafe down on the Westside of DTD? Very good food there, too if you're not wanting fast food.

Also Raglan Road -- very fun place there, especially if you get seated in main dining room & are there for the Irish band (after 7:30 p.m.) There's plenty of kids in there. It's not exactly peaceful in there, but it is fun place to be.

Thanks catne! I think I may just forget the idea of making a TS ressie and just go with the flow on the day... Do most places in DTD take walk-ups?
