Boatwrights at POR yay or nay?

Try it. We ve eaten here many times over our visits and enjoyed the food and the service.
Then take a look around POR as well...
Great Big gift shop! Lovely grounds.
Enjoy!

I've come to realize when it comes to dining, I am just about 90% opposed to Pete and his opinions.
For instance on his recent video, we do agree on Rainforest Cafe. Not so much that it's bad. While it is far from good my reasons for skipping it are it's not unique to Disney. It's a nationwide chain. The fact that the food is just avg does it no favors.
But like Boatwrights I disagree with him on San Angel Inn. It's really yummy. We've been multiple times and enjoyed it every time.
And I'm not as keen on BOG as he is. It's alright but far from glowing. It's skipable for us.
So maybe I do need to read/listen to his reviews and plan to hit up those he dislikes. ;)

I'm about 50/50 with his opinions.
Personally though I was not a fan of San Angel Inn and I love BOG :)
But I was very shocked with his opinion of Boatwright's.

We ate there in 2010 because we were staying at POR, and it was convenient. The meal was fine, nothing bad, but not super memorable either. We ate there again in 2016 because we were staying there, and it was one of the best meals we had the entire 9 days we were there. We always save a hotel restaurant for the last evening so that we can just eat, pack, and go to bed so if you're looking for something convenient, I highly recommend BoatWright's.

My DH and I ate there this past Sunday. We were staying at POFQ and wanted to grab a meal before we watched the Super Bowl. Our food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I had the risotto and my husband had the etouffe (so?) and both were very good and large portions.

I'm not as keen on BOG as a lot of people are. I always thought I ordered wrong. lol

I keep planning to check out Boatwright's! I have stayed at POR tons of times and never eaten there. That just seems silly.

. . . dessert:. Banana Pudding

NOTE1: Boatwrights used to get good reviews, but over the past few years has really gone down hill in the food quality department. In our opinion, it is below avgerage, BUT QUALITY IS COMING BACK. The VooDoo Chicken was true hoo-doo. We did enjoy the Blackened Catfish. The steaks are average in quality, but tasty ONLY because of the amount of added sodium. For dessert, the Banana Pudding Cake was heavenly. Yes, it is convenient for the resort guests, but not very highly recommended. If staying at POR, we recommend walking to the POFQ food court.
.
NOTE2: Hanging lanterns illuminate the cavernous dining hall, and the skeletal hull of a lugger fishing boat is suspended on high as its centerpiece. Warm yourself by the fire as you spy antique shipbuilding tools on the walls: C-clamps, saw blades, axes and more.

Is it actually legal to review a New Orleans cuisine restaurant and not review their Shrimp and Grits or Jambalaya ? ;)

I've tried BOG 3 times and I don't care for the food either. The West Wing dining room was something to see though!

We loved it. We were kicking ourselves for not trying it sooner. The chicken and waffles is so good. Also the crawfish Mac n cheese. Drool......:bitelip:

1) As long as the review does not mention beignets in the same sentence.
2) One must not confuse the tourists.

NOTE: Besides, to many of us, grit is something John Wayne had.

I, too, disagree with Pete's dining opinions to the point that whatever he says, I assume the opposite for my taste. DH and I traveled over from the BWV last September and it was completely worth the trip for us. So much so, we are looking to go back again in May. We thoroughly enjoyed Boatwrights.

We have eaten at Boatwrights a few times and have always been pleasantly surprised. IMO, it is a hidden gem that is underrated. Enjoy.

I agree. I've eaten there a few times (we were staying at POR), but I was always pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure I would make a special trip out to POR if I weren't staying at POR or POFQ just to eat there, but there aren't many resort restaurants I would do that for unless I were already nearby ie MK resorts.
