Boat that goes from MGM to World Showcase?

This map should help. It shows the whole Crescent Lake area, though it does not show the whole walkways to Epcot or MGM (click the link for a large version of the map).

...The low path has a gate where it comes out near the World Showcase boat dock. I assume they close this gate at times, but I've never seen it closed. There's a sign there, also, that points out the path.

There is also a gate for the main path (right about where the gate for the low path is). I've also never seen either gate closed.
