Boardwalk - "Water" view/Concierge Question

So after debating which resort to book, I finally took the plunge and booked a water view at the Boardwalk. Now I've got yet another question.....I've read two different versions of "water" view. One said view of the lake, the other said view of the lake or a pool. I have specifically requested lake view on the reservation. Has anyone had difficulty getting the lake view when paying for water view? I don't really want to pay that amount of money for a pool view. I know that many other resorts actually offer pool view as one of their options but was surprised to see the one description for Boardwalk as lake or pool.

Also, can anyone give input as to where the Concierge rooms are located at Boardwalk?

Thanks!!

This is my biggest concern with Boardwalk. I booked waterview for June, cant remember the rate, but it was high...I could justify it if we were going to have a view of the boarwalk, but not if our waterview was going to be of a quiet pool. The CM said that they couldnt guarantee what water we would be looking at, but I kept the ressie and was worried I would be disappointed when we arrived. Well, a medical emergency resulted in us cancelling the trip, so now I will never know.

It seems to me that I have read that the only way to guarantee a BW view is to book a deluxe room.....

We have stayed at BW twice with a "preferred" or water view room. Both times we requested a lake view or boardwalk view and got it. You would be surprised how many people do not want this because they think that the BW area is noisy at night. We found it to be very fun to people watch from the balcony. We were on the 3rd floor. As long as you put your specific request on your ressie - you've got a good chance.

This is definately a concern about mine too! I really like the Boardwalk in regards to a "romantic getaway" resort but was especially interested in a room overlooking the boardwalk.

I've read both accounts as well, rooms can either have a pool or lake view. This was particularly upsetting considering that several "standard" room views overlook the same courtyard/pool area... and for the $75 price difference a night, I find that unacceptable. I have read resort accounts in which people did book water view and were placed in pool view rooms. I noticed that on allears.net, they made a notation about "water view" being judged by the amount of discount you recieved...

Quoted from allears.net, Boardwalk Inn Resort Fact Sheet:
The Water View room category overlook Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk, and tend to be more lively in the evening hours. These Water View rooms are sometimes referred to as Preferred Views. A Variable View is usually used in conjunction with discounted rooms and means you won't have a guaranteed view because of the discount.

This is what was my room view description via Disneyworld.com:
All rooms have two queen-size beds or one king-size bed, table and chairs, ceiling fan, vanity area with two sinks, and bath. Some rooms offer day bed and private balcony. Non-smoking and disabled-accessible rooms are available. Amenities include in-room wall safe, voice mail, data port on phone, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, and refrigerator (upon request). Water/Pool View Rooms offer views of a lake and the boardwalk.

Standard concierge rooms overlook the courtyard area of the resort while Deluxe concierge rooms overlook the boardwalk/cresent lake. I think I read somewhere that these rooms are on the top floor section of the resort (potentially the pink (and/or) teal section of the resort map maybe?)

Overall my gut feeling would be to make sure it's stated on your reservation but mentioned again at check-in. I don't think I would settle with "pool view" for that price, and would politely ask for the price difference of standard vs. water to be credited back to me. I think I'd print out that "official" description just in case!

We have stayed at Boardwalk twice this year on a "water" view and both times had a view of the lake, overlooking the Boardwalk and Epcot. I think your chances are pretty good...

Not all BW view rooms on the club level are deluxe. If you are booking concierge and book water view you will get a room overlooking the BW and water. The rooms are on the 4th floor with some deluxe rooms on the 3rd floor.

On our last stay at BW, we booked Waterview Concierge and our room was all the way at the end of the hall, where the hallway bends toward the right -- so the "water" was not the lake, but a swampy area off to the side. Needless to say, we asked to change rooms the next day.

We are DVC usually book boardwalk view at the villas, they are the best views in Disney IMHO.

Thanks to everyone! I am requesting lake view in hopes of getting what I want. I'm also considering switching to concierge.

I hadn't thought about people not wanting the lake view but that makes sense because of noise. However, I definitely want it! I'm so excited about this trip, I don't want to be disappointed. Plus, its my best friends first WDW trip and I want to make it incredible. While I know that a pool view wouldn't deter from the Disney magic, the lake view would make it extra special.

I also just took the plunge and booked BWV, a 2 bedroom with a boardwalk view (I hope). Can't wait to sit out at night and watch the people.

just to let you know, BW view on the villa side is usually reserved for DVC members, If the resort isn't full during your dates, you may get it, but I wouldn't count on it. More than likely, your view will be of the canal to MGM (overlooking Swan/Dolphin) or a pool view.

To better your odds of BW, if available, make sure you list the BW request in your reservation. You might also request a Village Green view. That overlooks the Boardwalk entrance to the resort, and usually has some view of the BW.

Either way, BWV is a great resort. It's our favorite place to stay!

So is the only way to guarantee a BW view to book deluxe concierge?

"So is the only way to guarantee a BW view to book deluxe concierge?"

Booking the Deluxe Concierge will gaurantee BW and Lake view based on my understanding. I will be there for 9 days and the extra cost of Deluxe Concierge is about $1500. I decided not to do it and take my chances.

I noticed my itinery says water view, so I just sent email to TA telling them to request higher floor standard room with Balcony and LAKE view. Not sure if I will get it or that it even exists since I have never stayed there.

The reason I did not pay extra is because we wont be in the room much. I have not been to WDW in so long that I will be out alot to check everything out.

Not to get too deep into this but its partly physcological. If I pay for Conciege then I will feel like I need to be there alot in the lounge etc and on the balcony to get my moneys worth. Thats not the way I want to feel. I want to feel free I guess. Same reason I chose not to do the Meal Package, I dont want to have to keep track of those things.
