Help, Everybody, please…we just changed our January reservations from a BWV 1-bedroom Preferred View to a 1-bedroom Standard View (no BW view available). Did I mess up? Here’s the $50,000 Question: What is the view from a BWV Standard View Room?

Most of the standard views are along the front driveway. Some are down near Jellyrolls, on the side facing the Swan/Dolphin, over the former DVC offices (red building facing the canal). I've stayed standard view 3 times and was in the between the bus stop and the pond, on the 3rd or 4th floor. Great view of the high fireworks from Illuminations, you can even hear the music if you listen close. There are extra large 1 bedrooms on the corner above the pond (2123 (smoking), 3123, 4123), we were lucky to get 3123 last year. I had another standard view trip in April where we were in the last room next to Jellyrolls facing the Swan/Dolphin - 3102.

Is your reservation with DVC points? I didn't think CRO had the different categories.

Yes, it's with DVC points. When I made the reservation, I took any 1-bedroom for our dates. At that time only Preferred View was available. Now, here's my reasoning, and it may be flawed but, if I can't have BW view, I'd rather not use the extra points. :teeth: So, we wait-listed for BW view and Standard View. Today, Standard View became available and I took it. Bottom line is, hey, I'm just happy to have anything at my favorite resort :D but we've never stayed Standard View and I suddenly got nervous. Isn't that silly.....

Yes, we've stayed in 4123 (standard view) and loved it! We could see from the parking area all around to the canal from this corner room (we also feel the layout is a bit roomier than the traditional 1-bedrooms, too). It's was fun to see Tower of Terror from our bedroom window :)

To be honest, we prefer the standard views (more relaxing), not to mention the savings in points (cash) . . .

We own at BWV. We've stayed predominantly in standard view and once in a preferred view. Honestly, I will never do a preferred view. We love sitting on our balcony and watching the fireworks from Epcot and we love the view of the front of the Boardwalk. The one time we had preferred view, we overlooked the pool but we looked at the stairs and their was a large tree blocking part of the view. Not what I consider preferred view.

We are DVC BWV is our home resort....we only stay in Standard view rooms....mostly views of the front parking lot....if you get 4th floor across from the bus stop you can see illuminations fireworks...but our favorite rooms are on the 1st floor.....

And as far as BW view goes the one time I did stay preferred it was BW view...I thought it was very loud at night...

Thank you all sooooo much! I feel much better now with all your kind reassurances. Sounds like we should really give Standard View a try 'cause we've only ever done BW View. DH loves to watch the Friendships come and go but I agree with EeyoreJMH as far as streeeetching those points.... ::yes::

My memory may be a bit fuzzy, but I think from our standard view 4123, we were able to see the Friendships heading over to MGM. I know we at least could hear the horns from time to time.

(crossing my fingers that you get to see Friendships) :)

We had ressies for a standard view this past June and we had a room right beside the pool. The only time it was noisy is when the landscapers were blowing the leaves.

See, now, I loooove to HEAR the Friendships', like the sound of a train whistle off in the distance. And as far as listening to the wind blowing through the trees...ahhhhhh...:cloud9: Starting to seem like "Standard View" is anything but Standard! ::yes::
