Rarely do I ask a question, but I’m always lurking around.

I made a reservation at the 11 month window, even calling day by day to increase my chances of getting a boardwalk view because as I understand, according to Doc’s sources, preferences are granted in the order they are taken.

Question for the experts. If at the 8 month window I modify the reservation by adding a day to the beginning, it happens to be a Saturday, would I be kicked out of the queue in that the modified confirmation would have this later date.

O.K. Well you lit a fire in me!! It make no difference on the time that you book the room. We book every year at the 11 month window,BUT we alway's check in the WED. after Easter. The hotel is full w/ earlier Easter arrivals. The good rooms go first. I ask the desk and they say that is all that is available!! I now just stay in a standard view and save the points. I even spoke w/ the Desk manager, he stated that you can only request a room/view it is not guaranteed a room or location, just what they consider a preferred view.
I LOVE DVC, but not the way this was handled!
ONE last note, I have asked people at the pool who have great views when they booked? Almost everyone that I spoke w/ booked after I did. That just went to prove my point. First come, First served!
P.S. I really do love DVC!!! REALLY!!!

detheboys, I'm with you. I booked BWV Preferred for the first week of December (checking in Saturday) last year right at the 11 month mark. I didn't get the Boardwalk view I requested, we ended up over the quiet pool. They told me the same thing, no BW view rooms were available that day. The CM said he would check if there were any available later in our stay, but there would be a charge to move. I didn't want to move once we were there. That's the part that I think messes things up. Maybe someone who checked in earlier in the week was moved to a BW view that day and took the one we would have got. So this year, I booked standard view and saved the points (121 vs 155).

I really do believe that requests (other than medical) are honored according to when the reservation was made. That said, getting a Boardwalk view (or any other) is entirely dependent on the inventory available to the room assigner when he/she gets to your reservation. In other words, if the boardwalk rooms are already full with people who checked in a day or more before you arrive, you don't get one! There are a very limited number of boardwalk view rooms compared to the total number of preferred view rooms and rooms certainly don't turn over 100% every day!

See, First come, first served! That is exactly my point. I now just stay in a standard view room and save the points.
