Boardwalk transportation?

I am planning a trip for a friend who wants to stay at the Boardwalk. I have never stayed here. I know boats go to MGM and Epcot and you can also walk to Epcot. But I understand the bus situation is not the best. Do you share busses with other resorts to MK, AK and DD? I read somewhere that you have to take a bus to TTC and transfer to monorail or bus to get to MK is this true?

You can also walk to MGM. The bus to MK is a direct route. The busses are shared with S/D, YC, BC and BCV. Last to be picked up, and last to be dropped off. Never had a problem with the bus service, but I do take a cab or drive to DD.
