Since we just changed our reservations from POR to YC I was wondering since we can walk to DHS & Epcot from YC how quick it would be to:

1) Walk to Epcot from YC
2) Walk from World Showcase to Epcot front gate
3) Hop on monorail from Epcot to TTC
4) Hop on monorail from TTC to Magic Kingdom (or take the boat)

We will have park hoppers

We will also have a rental car. So what does everyone think will be quicker and easier overall? Driving from YC to MK or doing the monorail hop?

I am leaning for the monorail hop as it seems more relaxing and scenic :wizard:

You could do that, but it is a pretty good trek from WS to the front of Epcot just to take the Monorail to MK. There is a bus from the resort, as well as a bus from MK. You can also drive, (we never do, but some think it is more convenient.)

I would take the bus from YC to MK, unless you don't mind a longer transit time and really want to take the monorail. Then I would drive to TTC and take the monorail to MK. The bus would be the fastest way though. :thumbsup2
Bus from YC to MK would be about 20 mins including waiting, possibly 30 mins if you'd just missed a bus. Driving from YC to TTC would be about 10-15 mins by the time you park and take the tram to the monorail if needed.

Oh ya. To answer your questions:
1) Walk to Epcot from YC - 5-10 mins depending on your pace, we made it in about 7 at a leisurely pace.
2) Walk from World Showcase to Epcot front gate - I'd give it 10-15 mins
3) Hop on monorail from Epcot to TTC - including wait time, I'd give it 15 mins
4) Hop on monorail from TTC to Magic Kingdom (or take the boat) also including wait times I'd say 10-15 mins

To get from YC to MK, your quickest and easiest mode of transportation would be to take the bus. Best case scenario, you could be at MK in 20 minutes. Worst case, probably 45 minutes.

It's going to take you 15 minutes to get to Epcot from YC, then you have a 20 minute walk to the monorail, then you have to wait for the monorail, ride it to the TTC, switch monorail lines, wait for another train, and finally then get to MK. The absolute shortest time that commute would take is an hour, but you're probably looking at more like 90-120 minutes. Sounds like a huge waste of time to me.

Even with your car, I would suggest taking the bus. It is quicker and easier to take the bus than drive a car when going to MK because of the TTC being so far from the entrance. When you ride the bus to MK, you get dropped off quite close to the turnstiles.

If you're not in a hurry it's a really nice walk. :) The only unpleasant part is the monorail switch (IMO). But it will be much faster to go just about any other way.

I stay at BCV for F&W and for me it depends on exactly what I'm doing that day.
If I don't need to be at MK for rope drop (which I do need to do at least once during my trip), then I will walk through Epcot and snag a FP for Soarin' on my way!
If it's rope drop day for me at MK, I can't go through Epcot because I'd never make it - International Gate doesn't let you through until at least 8:45 am...

Thanks for all the replies and info and even a map! Looks like the bus or rental car is the answer most times :)

The only park that we never drive to is the MK. After you park you then have to take the tram to the TTC where you next have to catch a boat or monorail to the MK. This will usually end up taking longer than just taking a bus from your resort which drops you off near the front gate. Depending on what resort we are staying at we drive to the other parks. We are just back from a stay at The Boardwalk. The only time we drove was to the AK.

Just remember that if you drive to MK, you're not driving to MK. You're driving to the Transportation & Ticket Center and then have to take the monorail or ferry from there.

I see a lot of posts from die-hard drivers who hate Disney Transport buses but yet most of them still bus it to MK because it's the most convenient method.

Does anyone know if the Boardwalk has it's own bus or does it share with other resorts?

The Boardwalk bus is the last pickup spot on the pickup/dropoff loop. It starts at the Swan (some Boardwalkers get off here and walk), then the Dolphin, the the YC, then the BC, and finally the Boardwalk.

I am not sure if people waiting at the Boardwalk bus stop often have problems with full buses.

Much quicker to just take the bus. As already mentioned, it can take quite awhile to get from YC to MK if using the monorail. And if there is any kind of issue on the monorail (which seems to be happening more and more often lately) you could end up taking a bus to the TTC anyway.

Does anyone know if the Boardwalk has it's own bus or does it share with other resorts?
Always shares with the S/D. Sometimes shares with YC/BC...depends on time of day and the destination. I stay at BWV a lot...most of the tmie, we stop at only the S/D. YC/BC tend to have their own buses.
If it's the middle of the day, they will combine all 5 resorts heading to MK or AK. DTD buses may very well stop at all the resorts most of the time.

As noted already, not every bus route includes BW and YC/BC. The vast majority of the time, the bus services BW, S/D, with YC/BC on their own.
Not to mention, I have had very few instances, boarding a park bus at BW, where I haven't been able to find a seat. After leaving BW, we usually head to the S/D...so obviously not the last pickup stop.

We were just at the Boardwalk Resort in December. For MK, The Boardwalk shares a bus only with the Swan & Dolphin. For pickup, it's first the Boardwalk, then Swan, and then Dolphin. For dropoff, the Boardwalk is first. The bus ride takes about 20 minutes. For AK, we shared a bus with YC & BC once and we were last for pickup on that loop, but another time we only shared with Swan & Dolphin and we were first for pickup on that loop. For Downtown Disney, we only went once and that time the bus went directly from Boardwalk.

I was really worried about the bus waits going into our trip, but it was actually really good service. We never waited that long and the buses weren't very full.

I'm confused about whether you are at YC or BW. :confused3

We were at the BC last year and I think we only shared with the YC although I know Disney changes the routes all the time.

At any rate, it would be much, much shorter to take the bus directly from YC to MK.

We did something very similar last April:

To go to AKL for supper at Sanaa we walked from BC to IG at Epcot, through Epcot to the bus station and took a bus to the resort. It is a long, long, walk. You'd be adding the monorail switch at TTC, which would add even more hassle. We took the bus many times directly to MK with no hassle.

The only way it might help you to take the walking route is if you want to keep your child in a stroller and don't want to fold it up. I guess if you are not already getting enough walking in at Disney :lmao: it would also help with fitness.

Last month when I took the bus from the Boardwalk to the Magic Kingdom it had already picked up guests at the Swan/Dolphin and after we got on it was off to the Magic Kingdom. Coming back from the Magic Kingdom the 1st stop was the Boardwalk, then the 2nd stop was the Swan/Dolphin.

When we stayed at the BW the last two trips. We did not share with any resorts going to MK. We did share with Swan/Dolphin coming back from MK, but the BW was let off 1st. Crazy how it changes!

I do the Epcot resort/MK trek a good deal. To me, its relaxing and lovely. Its a pleasant walk to Epcot, then grab a drink at the UK, enjoy it to the monorail and go from there. I can be mercenary and just Uber it, but I enjoy this walk a ton!
