We opted for a BWV standard view studio. So, what different views might you have from your balcony? I'm assuming that one might be of a parking lot. Is there any other possible views? If so, what would you request?

last time got a garden view - below the parking/entrance area. It was okay.

like the end nearest the valet parking (also hC) - it has a stream so it is like a water view - and up high.

you can get a garden view - entrance view - drive way view or parking lot view - all of views have a garden view directly in front.

Our only stay there, we got a "preferred" view. It faced the Swan hotel.

We have stayed many times at BWV, all standard views! You will get parking lot views with water. All our stays were great!

This "map" will give you an idea of what to expect...SV rooms are indicated by the green line.

We stayed last month and ended up all the way in back, closest to Hollywood Studios. It was a long walk but a good view. A little parking lot but relatively quiet. We could see ToT off to the right:

We had a standard view at the Boardwalk. It was on the end. Our balcony faced the quiet pool and to the right was the canal. You could see a little of Fantasmic and hear the music. We loved the location!!!

We were there last month and we faced the bus stop (straight ahead) and the front (just to the left). We were on the top floor and you could see just a bit of illuminations.

I just rented DVC points for BWV Standard View Studio in January. 76 points for a full week at a Deluxe Villa resort? No other BWV view or any other Boardwalk area or Magic Kingdom area Deluxe Villa (BCV, BWV, BLT, WLV) allows you to get a week for anything under 105 points per week.

Why is it so much cheaper for this Standard View room at the BWV?

I've been to the BCV building, and it's way in the back of the hotel, without any spectacular view or location (not to mention it's not swimming weather for most in January, so being near the BC pool is not an advantage).

You mentioned it was "a long walk". Do you mean from the boardwalk to your room, or from your room to DHS?

Also, to anyone who has stayed in one, from a Standard View room, what is the better way to get to DHS ... walk or boat ride? We're 33 and 31, and our kids are a 5 year old daughter and a baby in a stroller.

One more question ...

This is going to be our first stay at a Deluxe Villa resort. When we have stayed at moderate hotels, we have been able to request certain room numbers/buildings. At BWV can you request a certain Standard view room number range? We are going in the least busy "Adventure Season".

If so, which are the Standard room numbers closest to the lobby?

Adventure Season is not the least busy. In fact, early Dec and early Jan are extremely busy. So busy that if you don't book 10-11 months out, you might not get your reservation. If you are talking Sept, that is not as busy.

It was a long walk to the room from the elevator. And from our room, the walk to DHS was not bad; but my kids are 8 & 11. It's a good half mile from the back of the resort (a guesstimate.) We tended to walk to Epcot & DHS, then take the boats back after walking at the parks all day.

I should have said "least number of points on the point chart". However, we are going the last week of January, away from marathons, three-day weekends, Spring Breaks, etc.

It's not too busy the end of January. You will have a great time!!!

Do they accommodate room change requests, like asking for a room closer to the elevator?

Depends on what they have available. When I stayed at BWV last fall, they were full (it was a F & W Fest weekend.) My room was awful; unrenovated and in really bad condition. And very far from the elevator. I asked to be moved but they had no other studios available.

I just got ahold of MS and they still had standard studio rooms for the weekend of 1/21-1/23! Yeah!! First trip for DH and me w/o the kids or extended family.

Generally, no. And if they do they have the option to charge you a room change fee (I think its about $50?)

BW Standard Points are cheaper because the point charts were adjusted - OKW are actually the cheapest points on property. BWV started being sold with a different allocation, but they got a lot of noise about the parking lot view being so much more expensive than the OKW rooms. So they changed it, turning it into one of the best bargains on property.

We've had ONE room request granted in about ten years of ownership - and that was tagged with "cancer recovery trip" - otherwise, if I ask for a high floor we are on the ground floor. If I ask to be near the elevators, we are down near the end. You may have better luck, but I wouldn't set your heart on it.
