We just checked out of the BW villas this AM....lovely hotel. Excellent staff. Lots of fun to wander the Boardwalk at night. The place is really spread out and you can be a very long hike from the elevators....if you are in a villa my suggestion would be to request something close to an elevator. The lobby is hopping all the time....don't plan on sitting there for quiet time. But very interesting place to people watch.
Personally I am not crazy about the restaurants over there, but a lot of people seem to have better experiences in them than we have had. Great ice cream cones at the Seashore Sweets place though!!
The boat ride to EPCOT and/or MGM is pleasant if you are tired, but an easy walk to either place if you are in a hurry (walking is always faster than the boat IMHO).
The only down side I would say is the bus service is awful....only 3 basic routes come there....one to MK, one to Typhoon Lagoon and DTD and the 3rd to Blizzard Beach and AK....all are shared routes with Swan/Dolphin and/or Yacht& Beach....BW is the last to be picked up (so there are never any seats left on any of the buses, day or night)....and during peak hours they often get full and don't come to BW at all....so you wait and wait and wait.... On the return trip BW is also the last so you make 3 or 4 stops before getting back. I never had trouble finding a place to park in self parking, but sometimes I was a 10 minute walk from our room!! DVC members get complimentary valet service, so after the first day I just gave up and valet parked.
The community hall has lots of fun activities if you are travelling with children...free air hockey, ping pong and foosball as well as videogames and daily activities. You can check out books and movies also. We never found it very crowded.
