Boardwalk refurb - Does Disney do a good job at keeping you away from the noise?

Was planning on a trip for Boardwalk in early December 2023. Just a little nervous to stay there if there in the middle of a refurb. Curious if others have stayed at resorts in the middle of refurbs and was it annoying and really noisy.
We plan on going to the parks but probably only 4 out 7 days, so will probably be at the resort a nice chunk of time.
Does Disney work on things in sections so they can keep people away from the noisy areas?
Will they accept room requests to be away from areas that are being refurbished?
Ive also heard they can move you to the Cash side of the Boardwalk if they plan on renovating your room, not sure if i would be ok with that.

I guess the next question would be how long do refurbs usually take? If they started early 2023 do you think they would be done by December? Granted they might not start until December:)

I have the option of staying at the Grand Floridan but would have to borrow points to do that, so preference would be Boardwalk, but maybe its worth not dealing with refurb.
Might just be overthinking it

It looks like they plan to start in the fall based on when they were blocking units.

They do work in sections but it's impossible to stay open and not have some people near noise.

Doubt they are starting early 2023 unless maybe on the cash side that is.

DVC likely is fall and who knows when it's done.

I stayed at BWV during the construction period in 2015. It seemed they made no attempt at all to isolate the noise from occupied rooms. I was on the 4th floor and they were doing construction on the floor right above me, which I discovered on my resort day. Minor drilling started at 10 am, with really serious noise an hour later. I had added a room request through Member Services to be as far away from construction as possible, but the manager told me my request never made it to BWV.

For more experiences from people who were at BWV during construction in 2015 see this thread: Boardwalk noise

In the past, as to the refurb inside the building, the process has been to do half a floor at a time, starting with the fifth. When half is finished, they start the other half, and when it is finished they move down to the fourth floor, etc. If you re on the same floor as when 1/2 is being refurbed, you have little risk of noise because you are on a different half of the building. However, if you are a floor above or below the one being worked on, and your room is above or below the half being worked on at the time, you could have some noise issues.

It appears. however, that there is also going to be some major outside work going on. There is always some during a refurb, but there is an indication that, with this refurb, there could be major outside work going on at the boardwalk and the rooms overlooking the boardwalk. DVC has closed for any reservations all the boardwalk view rooms for the period from Sep 9 through Nov 23. Some have construed that as the time when the BWV refurb will begin. That is questionable -- a BWV refurb usually takes close to a year, DVC has already put a notice on the website that BWV will start a refurb, apparently soon, and thus I believe it likely the refurb will start much earlier than fall 2023, and likely first part of 2023.. Moreover, that closing of all the boardwalk view rooms for an extended period is something that has never happened before and is not likely to be referring to the internal refurb of the rooms and hallways -- if it did that would mean all boardwalk view rooms would be refurbed during that time, along with a very high percentage of the pool/garden view rooms, because all internal refurbs close off rooms on both sides of the hallway and a large number of pool/garden view rooms are across the hall from the boardwalk view rooms.

So how it will be in early December is currently anyone's guess. Much of the internal work may be finished, or maybe not. Whatever is going to happen outside on the boardwalk rooms may be done but work on the outside boardwalk area, not including the rooms, could actually continue well beyond Nov 23, just not the work that requires the rooms to be vacant. So what the status of the refurb will be early Dec 2023 is just something currently unknown, and personally, I would probably assume that there will still be work going on with noise issues.
