Boardwalk Parking

I noticed that there is an advisory that there might not be parking available for guests staying there. How accurate is this? We will have a car and would rather not have to pay to valet our car when we are staying there.

It is pretty accurate. Those staying at Boardwalk usually are squeezed in somehow, but others frequently are turned away.

We are doing a split stay moving there on a Tuesday, do you think it'll be fine to park then and just leave the car there the rest of the stay? Or is it bad enough I should look into switching to a different resort

I believe they have had that parking advisory up for years. We have stayed at the Boardwalk Inn at least 3 times since the advisory has been up and we have never had a problem self-parking our car for our stay.

The construction that never ends? lol. That's reassuring I was starting to panic a little

They put the advisory up but really you may just be in the overflow lot. The real people who have to worry are those coming just for ADRs or to look around. It is not uncommon for those to be told to valet or to park at DHS and boat/walk back. I think you will be fine since you are actually staying there. However, until your resort stay starts you can't just leave it there.

:offtopic: slightly off topic, but...

Love your screen name...

I am a graduate of FSU, too. :)

So we just got back from there and had to stalk a family leaving to find a spot. We drove around with several other cars doing the same thing for a good 15 minutes. What's disappointing is that the valet lot is huge and only 1/4 of it was used. In addition many of the non-valet slots were taken up by people dining or going to EP. The reason why I believe this is because when we checked in at 10 am we had no problems finding a spot. We left for dinner and came back to zero spots. The next morning I went to the car very early like 730 am and the parking lot was half full. Now maybe a ton of people checked out at 7am but I'm thinking not. They know they have a parking issue and have many ways to fix it but don't. They could easily open up slots in the valet area or make people park in the overflow that aren't guests. If I'm paying $500/night I think I should get a parking spot. Would I switch resorts because of it?.....no. But it was a bit frustrating, yes.

I agree with this. We find this every time. I think they should block off the regular lot for guests and only have the overflo for those who want to dine, shop...and self park. We also have been at the boat dock and listened numerous times to people talking about the parking and they were then on there way to DHS via boat. That is only OK if there are enough spots for the guests first.

I also think that's a strange move by Disney...

Just curious : how much is valet parking at BW?

I'm quoting myself here, because I should add that once we are parked, we don't move the car again until we leave, so I'm sure the parking sitation varies by the hour.

I will say that I was slightly annoyed last time that we stayed, we had to park way out by the street. Okay, yeah, I need the exercise. Didn't mind it too much until the next morning (Monday) when we were at the bus stop waiting to go to MK, they had the parkng lot closest to the building designated for EPCOT parking. There was a big sign at the entrance to the parking lot. I should have taken a picture.

When I was there last October, we didn't have a problem at all. It was during Food & Wine and they were being pretty strict about who could get in.

We will probably be there early since we will be checking out of one resort to go there and then head straight to a park. Probably won't move the car again since we can just rely on Disney transportation. They really should have enough spots for everyone staying there to be able to park.

That's really odd, I thought they want people to pay to park and monitor people trying to avoid paying by going to the nearby resorts. That's completely unfair to have the hotel parking set up for Epcot people

Sometimes I think they create their own parking problems. Perhaps they were charging people to park there, I didn't pay too much attention. Maybe they decided to move those of us staying there farther out and charge people going to EPCOT for closer in parking.

We just love the hotel and it's location so much, it's just not worth it to me to get too upset over where we had to park.

You will be fine. The only time parking is a problem is dinner time and later. At that time, most all the overnight guests are already on premises and the nightlife "visitors" come to eat, drink and walk around the Boardwalk. They are the ones that find parking tight. As a guest at BWI or BWV, we have never had any problem at all when we arrive in the daytime hours.
