My fiance and I are getting married next April. We are planning on honeymooning in Disney World. I have been there a few times, he has never been there. We are debating between the Boardwalk Inn and the Yacht Club for our stay. I have stayed at the Yacht club and enjoyed it, but I have always wanted to stay at the Boardwalk Inn and have never been able to get reservations. We are in our late 20's and want to be close to Epcot and MGM. We can't afford to stay in the Grand Floridian, and it's also not very "us". Any info you guys have would be great!

Thanks so much!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. You can't go wrong with either resort but since you have already been to the YC and you are starting a new life together, you might want to start it out going to a place where neither of you have been yet. The BWI is beautiful and romantic. Especially if you get a room facing Illuminations at Epcot. It is a quiet and peaceful hotel with all the amenities. Definitely make a reservation to eat at the Flying Fish which is right outside. You can access all of the restaurants along the Boardwalk, including the YC/BC so it is like having the best of all worlds.

Congratulations!! You really can't go wrong with either resort. I have stayed at BWI and it is a beautiful resort. It would be nice if you could get concierge since it is your honeymoon. Who knows, maybe you'll get a code? :D

Since I haven't been to either yet...I do agree with Franw in that staying at a place where neither of you has been sounds much better. You can discover the resort together. We went to WDW on our honeymoon and it was absolutely wonderful.

Just make sure you note on your reservation that you're on your honeymoon and drop the "hint" at all the restaurants. You may be nicely surprised. Congratulations!

I also agree, you should stay at the BWI.

Honestly when my husband and I were planning our honeymoon last year we were also thinking of the Beach and Yaght Club but, for the price diff we decided on the Poly and it was AMAZING!!!
You can't possibly beat it for romantic atmosphere and it actually ended up being less expensive to stay there than at either the BC or YC. Though it is a little ways from Epcot with the Mono-rail running through the main house it's only minutes away and the bussing system there is amazing. It never took us longer that 20 minutes to get anywhere... oh... except DTD... that was a nightmare!!!
Just thought I'd add in my 2 cents : ) Oh yea... if I were you two I'd invest in some Bride and Groom pins... you get extra special treatment while everywhere in the world.

CONGRATS!!!

Boardwalk is always our first choice and Yacht Club second..

either are great and you will have a wonderful time at either.

Enjoy!

BWI! We love it. If you could swing it, a garden suite would be really nice! We stayed in one last December. Very romantic--even with our 4 yo!:p

We have stayed at both and if we had to choose between the two we would go with the YC. There was nothing wrong at the Boardwalk we just did not get the same "feeling" as we did at the YC.

I really appreciate all the opinions. Our only concern with the BWI was that it may be noisy if we are overlooking the boardwalk, and I've heard that it's quite a walk from the elevators to almost any part of the building.
We did throw around the Poly, but neither of us really likes that theming very well. Our other choice was the Beach Club but we figured there would be more kids there, so that's why we were thinking BWI or YC.
Keep the comments coming though, I'm interested in any input we can get!

Also, I've heard a lot about these Bride/Groom pins..is there any way I could get them before we get down there?

Thanks again everyone!

Some other things to consider. Have you taken a look at room pictures at www.wdwig.com ? That might help you make a decision. As far as distance, we stayed at the YC and had a room that was very distant from the lobby and everything else, except the quiet pool. So at either BWI or YC you could be far removed.
As far as the noise issue......depends on your tolerance level. We stayed at the BWV and our studio faced the Boardwalk/grass area. Late at night, after Jellyrolls closed we would hear folks walking to cabs etc....drunk.....loud. I heard them, but my cousins were dead asleep. I wasn't disturbed by them as I was up and went out to the balcony to laugh at them. It's a matter of personal preferences. Noise level in general isn't bad.

I would stay at the BWI, that's just me tho....

Another vote for the BW. I love the decor of the rooms, and the hotel is more intimate and romantic IMHO.
Good luck with your decision and upcoming marriage. :D

Definately the BWI, take a look at the garden suite pics on WDWIG.com.

They might be able to answer the pin question on the wedding and honeymoon board.

I love both choices (HUGE fan of the Yacht Club in particular), but I would go with Boardwalk for this particular occaision if you are going for intimacy. My boyfriend and I stayed concierge at Boardwalk in May and were SO thrilled with it! We were expecting it to be nice, but we felt it was very adult, upscale, and cozy....such a great respite from the rest of the "World". You need to remember the inn is only around 400 rooms (compared to other deluxe properties that is TINY) so you get a very intimate feel. The Yacht Club, while gorgeous, is a huge hotel- the one "plus" is that it very quiet and classy too, and I think the interior room decor is nicer than Bwalk. Anyway, we had a room right above spoodles and next to the Presidential Suite, so we would grab food in the morning at the concierge lounge and eat out on our balcony and people watch. Insofar as Boardwalk "noise" I didn't mind the noise at all- in fact honestly it was pretty dead when we were there so after 10pm it didn't matter. The concierge staff was wonderful, and it was just a fantastic few days. We've talked about going back if (or I'm hoping when) we get married and go Platinum Plan at Bwalk concierge. Based on my experience there, its one of the few hotels I would actually pay rack rate for!!

Regardless, you won't go wrong with either location, and you'll have a great time no matter what!! Congrats!!!

We stayed at the Boardwalk Villas on our last stay and loved it. The noise didn't bother us at all. When the balcony doors are closed, we didn't hear anything.

No matter which resort you choose, best wishes on your honeymoon.
