I need help with the birthday cake process!

I want to get a birthday cake for my daughter. She likes traditional Disney, with Goofy and Pluto being her favorites, and Minnie and Mickey next. We will be having lunch at the ESPN club on our first day, and I was thinking of ordering a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery. I had just assumed that you could get any type of themed cake from any of the bakeries (with some limitations, of course). But now I've read that the Boardwalk does the Mickey head cake - is that all they do? Will I be able to get anything else there? We're still a bit away from our vacation, so I can't call the cake hotline - its just the habitual planner in me that needs to know now.

Any ideas? TIA!!

If you call the hotline, I'm sure they would be happy to help you figure out your cake options. I haven't ordered a Disney cake myself, but they've always been very helpful for figuring out restaurant reservations. Let them know what kind of cake you're after, and they should know what your options are.

ESPN told my DH in Nov they no longer offer kid's meals. We had ordered lunch to go. My DS5 ate our fries. Had I of known this ahead of time, I would have sent him to Beaches & Cream for food.

Just a heads up. Call ESPN directly to see if this has changed. :confused3

We're guessing they're trying to be less-kid friendly. Maybe get back to the bar scene atmostphere?

ETA: The Boardwalk has a limited number of birthday cakes available daily. When I stopped in for a drink refill I saw a "Cars" themed cake and a traditional white birthday cake in the display case.

I would imagine they could whip up a basic character cake in 24 to 48 hours notice. Call the bakery directly to see what they offer. They're very friendly there. I had a nice conversation with a baker about the gingerbread houses. I was curious why theirs was so much cheaper than the ones at the GF - she had no idea of the price difference!

Thanks for the info on the ESPN Club. Its my kids that want to go there, so I'll have to look into that! Thanks also for the tips on the bakery. I plan on calling ahead and ordering one for pick-up, but I wasn't sure if the Boardwalk Bakery is the best choice. We're staying offsite this time, so I guess my choices are limited as to what bakery I can pick up from.

The Boardwalk Bakery operates like a traditional bakery, while the Main Street Bakery is more of a counter service location, KWIM?

Even with short notice I've heard people have had good experiences with the Boardwalk Bakery. I wouldn't hesitate to order from there.

Have you checked out the cake thread? That would provide the best info out there for you.
