Boardwalk 1 bedroom sleeping 4-5?

DD12 now may take a friend on our Spring Break trip and we've already booked a BW 1 bedroom. The DVC site indicates 5 can be accommodated but linens aren't provided free of charge. I would be ok paying for extra linens for a fifth guest. Can anyone tell me the sleeping arrangements for 5? Master, pull out queen sofa and a flip chair? I'm assuming the chair would be available like other resorts?

Thanks

Pretty sure there is no sleeper chair (yet) at BWV...we've done five in a 1-BR (BCV, BWV and SSR) and brought a twin size air mattress for our fifth...and we brought necessary linens, too...(there are enough pillows on the king sized bed that we didn't need to bring pillows...and I used the spread as a blanket for the air mattress...so just brought sheets)...

I don't think you can buy extra linens (like buying the extra towels package)...at least I've never seen that option offered...but Mousekeeping being what it is, there's a reasonable chance they'd give you an extra set of sheets if you asked...but if you get one who won't, you'll be stuck making do w/what's provided for the pull-out and the king sized bed in the master...

The furniture cushions probably won't work for "creating a bed"...the pull-out's, as I recall, have the cushions sewn into the back of the couch...so I think you will need a sleeping bag or air mattress...

Good luck!

No bedding is provided for the 5th person. It sleeps 4, there is no sleeper chair. You could bring a blowup mattress or sleeping bag.

From the member website:

Sleeps 4 – 5th guest can be accommodated, but please note that NO ADDITIONAL BEDDING, LINENS OR TOWELS WILL BE PROVIDED.
1 king-size bed & 1 queen-size sleeper sofa
Full kitchen
Washer/dryer
Full bathroom with whirlpool tub

And there is no bedspread any more since Disney and DVC have gone to a Triple sheet system with a bed scarf. So you'll need to bring a blanket as well as the other linens for the air mattress guest.

Maybe it's a regional thing but when I read DVC's statement that "no additional bedding will be provided", to me that means no extra bed linens. But what they really mean is no bed and no pillow, as well as no sheets, no blanket, no towels.

Given that some resorts do have a sleeper chair or a drop-down bed, it would be better if they made it more clear that if a guest plans to put five people in a 1BR at one of the resorts that does NOT have that extra bed (BWV in this case) and the 5th person does not fit in a pack'n'play, then you need to bring everything that 5th person will need to sleep in that room.

I think what I posted above from the member website is pretty clear. Sleeps 4, 1 king bed & 1 queen sized sleeper sofa.

AKV reads:

Sleeps 5, 1 king-size bed, 1 queen-size sleeper sofa, & 1 sleeper chair

I think the assumption that allows a 5th person is that one is a child who can bunk in the king with parents. We have 9 sleeping in a 2 bedroom since my sisters two girls will bunk in the king with her.

I agree that once you read the rest of the description you would have to ask yourself where that 5th person that "can be accommodated" is supposed to sleep. My comment was really about the word "bedding" and wondering if that means different things to different people depending upon where you grew up. To me it means "bed linens" not "bed". It might have been better if they had stated "NO BED, BED LINENS OR TOWELS WILL BE PROVIDED." We see posts from time to time asking what is meant by "no bedding" so I figured I'm not the only one who finds their wording a bit confusing. It might also address the other question we sometimes see asking about whether DVC provides rollaways.

As mentioned no sleeper chair. Just king bed and queen sleep sofa. We need to sleep 5 so knew we needed OKW, AKV, or BLT. Those are the only ones with the sleep chair. Though I'm not sure about WLV right now. We booked okw because we need that sleep chair as we don want anyone sleeping on the floor

The crazy thing about VWL is they put the pulldown bed in the studio but not in the one bedroom. So a studio sleeps more people than a 1 bedroom.:confused3

Totally agree, but I've been told there was a non-crazy reason.

When they tried fitting the pull-down Murphy bed frame into the 1BR at VWL, the walkway clearances with both that and the sofa extended didn't meet fire code.

The sleeper chairs currently used at other resorts also wouldn't fit, so they had to leave it as-is.

Fire code doesn't stop an individual guest from temporarily throwing an air mattress on the floor, but it does limit the clearances of permanent furniture.

Thanks. We may wait to take DD's friend a different trip now..I hate to invite someone and ask them to sleep on the floor. Would be better for a 5th person at OKW and AKV 1 bedroom. AKV 1 bedroom may be our best option since it has fold out chair and 2nd bathroom...two 12 year old girls with only one bath would be difficult!

Don't forget BLT as an option for the sleeper chair and extra bathroom.

Aren't studios and the living areas of a 1BR the same width? So it gave enough of a clear path between a queen bed and the pull down but did not give the same clearance between a queen sleeper sofa and the pull down? And neither pull down nor pull out chair is permanently open.

Good question Kat. I haven't measured. Just what a front desk manager told me when I asked last spring while the renovations were ongoing.

I think they are the same width. I always figured it was a length problem, not a width problem. The connecting door in the VWL 1BRs is in the living area so that limits the amount of space to put furniture along that wall. In the studio they had to remove the round table to get enough space. To do the same in a 1BR, they would have to reduce the size of the kitchen.

If you look at the floor plan of a dedicated 2BR (scroll down this page: http://dvcnews.com/index.php/resorts/villas-at-wilderness-lodge/maps-a-photos-2265) and compare the space along the wall occupied by the table and dresser in the 2nd bedroom with the space along the other side of the wall in the 1BR's living area, there doesn't appear to be enough room in anything other than the dedicated 1BRs to squeeze in the drop-down bed and narrow dresser that they put in the studios.

Yes, BLT could be another choice.

We haven't stayed at VGF yet but I see there is a 5th person accommodation in the studio. Might be tight quarters with 5 in a studio though. I wonder if the Poly studio will sleep 5?

I'm pretty familiar with NFPA codes and they don't say anything about the stuff in the hotel room, only the number of occupants able to leave the building based on corridor widths, stairwells, etc.

My guess is that the entrance to the second bedroom at VWL is through the living room, not through the entrance hallway. With the bed pulled down, the occupants of the second bedroom don't have an escape from that room (except out the window) since the door would be blocked unless the second bedroom was a lockoff. And that has the little murphy bed in it.

Sorry to hijack but I'm new to researching DVC a little more seriously. Is that the DVC norm to have a set number of towels and get charged if you need more? I'm surprised as a hotel staying person. I haven't been to Disney nearly as many times as others on Disboards by I've been to plenty of hotels and cabins and I've never been charged for needing 2-3 towels per person. Also does anyone know if that is the norm for other point based time share resorts, aside from DVC?
