My DH has never been able to experience Peter Pan's flight because he has no functioning in his legs and we've always read that they won't stop the moving walkway for boarding.

Will they slow it at all or does the belt move slow enough that we could possibly have time to bring his chair up beside the vehicle, have him transfer with my assistance, get the chair out of the way and then me board?

I mean, if they can make it possible for a paraplegic to transfer into the Rock-N-Roller Coaster car, then why in the work hasn't Disney done something to make getting on Peter Pan a possibility???

I don't believe Peter Pan can slow down or stop. I believe it's one of only two ride in the MK for which no such accommodation can be made.

It is true that they cannot slow down or stop the ride as it would be very dangerous for those guests already on the ride (those lap bars are not super tight). However, I have heard reports of either being the first or the last to ride PP and then they could stop the walkway. I imagine it would be very very hard to be the first rider, but if you can be there at park close and wait for everyone else in line to go, then you could be the last pirate ship of the night and they could stop the walkway.

It is correct that they can't stop or slow the walkway. The biggest reason is that guests are suspended above ground as the poster above noted.
There is also a switch from bring on the ground to airborne that I have been told is also an issue.

We have never done it, but other people have posted they were able to ride either first or last ride of the day.
Cheshire Figment had also checked with an area supervisor and was told to come to the attraction during the day to ask about bring the last yo ride.

How it works is that when all the guests are off, they stop the ride and load no more than the number of guests that can fit in the pirate ships in the loading area.
Because everything is stopped, a wheelchair can be brought right up yo the pirate ship for loading, then a CM will move it out of the way and you will be sent on your flight.
After the ride is over, they will stop the attraction again, a CM will bring the wheelchair and you will get out.

1) RnRC stops to load/unload, so anyone has the ability to transfer.
2) Peter Pan is a continual moving chain, thus does not stop.
3) Additionally, if stopped,
. . . it would swing freely, and swing again when restarted
. . . the transition point from p[platform to open air can be dangerous
. . . with no "floor" the ride would scare a lot of people (even some adults) if stopped
4) Some rides are simply not conducive to stopping/slowing during normal operation.

NOTE: There are rumors about stopping for loading when it is the last ride of the
day. This is not widely known or publicized, so I cannot comment on it. However,
many of those folks who could use such a favor cannot wait until park closing to
take advantage.

It's not a rumor.
One particular poster named Michigan has 2 daughters with Spina Bifida - She has posted several times about doing it. They ask about 1/2 hour before closing and ride thru with the CMs who are doing a final ride run thru.

Different people vary in their ability to wait until park closing. While it may not be an option for some, it will work for others. Probably not now when the park is open so late, but there are also times of the year with early closing.

Thanks everyone...just trying to get a feel for what all my DH might be able to do that he never has before. In doing research for this trip, I've found quite a few rides he's never done that are actually possible for him with my help, so he's really looking forward to those.

We'll definitely take your suggestion and try to see about riding at the end of the day. I know this is a very simple, fairly short ride, but he's always wanted to do it.
