I've only heard good things about BMI (British Midland) and I assume your connection to Orlando is on United?

In my opinion it's all about the price!

Used BMI twice, Once via Chicago and the other via Washigton, your internal connecting flight should be with TED, part of United. BMI were advertising more economy leg room than any other transatlantic carrier, I dont know if this is still correct. I would say the first time we flew with them was the best tranatlantic crossing we have ever had. Great inflight entertainment, food was good. No problems at all.
We only fly Virgin for the Direct route and we have about 80,000 miles which gives us some better prices. If I had to pay full rate in school hols doubt I would use them their service has been terrible last couple of years.

I did not respond as your initial post seem to say that the BMI route is more expensive than Virgin and TCD???

would give bmi:thumbsup2 but as obi said you dont make it clear if its cheaper or dearer

I have been on bmi - washington- orlando
great flight bmi plane very nice and your well looked after-well we were!
only prob for us going out was that we found out 2 wks before we went that our internal flight to orlando was cancelled and we would have a 7 hr wait until we could get on the next one.. there was nothing to do, and we were advised not to leave the airport at all.
coming back orlando-chicago-manchester -that was fine!

Flew the MAN-KORD-KMCO last October, service was great and entertainment was good choice on a looping basis. The BMI 332 is 32 in pitch, not as good as US Air with 34 but it is better than BA and Virgin. We were two hours late from Manchester and then even later in Chicago with TED but i dont blame them for that.

Oh and a tiub of Ben N jerrys choccie Ice Cream on the return Evening meal :thumbsup2
