I think I saw that you can book just a beach day threw disney at the blue lagoon. I was wondering if you can book this by yourself. thbak for any help!:sunny:

I looked into booking the Blue lagoon on my own, through the company that owns the island. You have to take their ferry boat across and I think it cost about $25. The ferry leaves from the base of the bridge on the paradise island side, so you would need to spend another $8 round trip to get there via cab. Then the food on the island is expensive, like $10, so by the time I added it all up, it cost about the same as DCL.

We're planning in going April 19th.

If I can find the website for the company, I'll post it.

Will yoube doing the beach day.. could you let me know how youe trip went..
thanks Kelly

When we return, I'll try to send you a summary of the day at Blue Lagoon.

I've been there twice already - once on my honeymoon in 1987 and once in 2000. This trip will include my DW, DD 11 and DS 6. DD and DS haven't snorkeled before, so I thought the shallow lagoon would be a good place to start them off.

We went to Blue Lagoon for the Dolphin Encounter, and it is a beautiful place! I would love to spend a whole day lounging there.

If, as the other poster says, the price of do-it-yourself and Disney are about the same, I'd say stick to Disney. It's just more simple, and you're guaranteed that the ship won't leave without you. Since you'd need to use a taxi and a ferry (and the ferry ride is about 45 minutes), this could be a significant consideration.

I haven't read the boring lagoon report yet, but I really enjoyed our excursion. It was very calm and relaxing. It was just what we needed on that trip.
