When I've been reading about BBI've heard very mixed reviews about it. Obviously if you get to sit next to the water it would be an amazing experience, but for those of you who have been to BB do you think the food is good? What is your fav thing to eat there?

I am not a fan of BB. The food was mediocre, at best, when I visited a few years ago. I think the ambiance is cool, but people build it up in their heads quite a bit. I'd recommend looking at pics of the dining area and its relationship to the ride vehicles before going. It'll give you a clearer picture of what to expect.

I sat waterside with some friends and it was fun. The wait for a waterside table was about. 30 minutes, immediate seating for anywhere else but it was Feb and an early lunch. (We made same day ADR but it would have been the same as walking up). I split the Monte Cristo and it was so good, but you can get it cheaper at Cafe Orleans if you don't care. Everything I tried was good, but if you want REALLY good food Carthay is good, Napa Rose is the BEST!

We actually really enjoy the food. One of our best meals this last trip was there and we didn't have waterside (although It is better!). I like the monte cristo or tesero island chicken, DH (and oldest DD) like the rack of lamb and my littles really enjoy the salmon.

For me, I don't go to DLR for a fine dining experience, so the menu there doesn't appeal to me. I also think that most people need to manage their expectations because it is a theme park, not a candidate for a Michelin star. As long as you recognize that you're paying probably twice as much for the food as you would for similar quality outside of a theme park, and that about 70% of the markup is for the atmosphere and 30% is theme park pricing you won't be disappointed. It's not my favorite place, but I'll go if someone wants to celebrate their special occasion there. Waterside or not is not make or break for me. Over half the diners will not have a waterside table, so that's something to consider if it's of outmost importance to your party. I've seen many people build up the experience and leave feeling let down, but IMO, they expected too much.

We love the food there actually. DH and I have gone the past 2 years for dinner and get the surf and turf. The steak is one of the best I've had and I grew up in the Midwest and on steak.

I know others disagree but it is a must eat for us not just for the atmosphere but for the food too!!

I live near Seattle -- Eating at Blue Bayou is similar to eating at the Space Needle. I think the food is overpriced for what you get, but I don't go there for the food. The food is okay to good, not great. We always go at lunch because it's a little less expensive and it's the only time they have the Monte Cristo, which I really like. There is definitely better food elsewhere in Disneyland, but that's not what matters to me.

We go every time and I would be really disappointed to miss it. It's just cool. pirate:

One of my biggest disappointments at DW was when I didn't realize their POC did not have a restaurant inside.

The food in BB, is okay as other have said it is more about the whole dining experience. We recently had lunch there this past Thursday, and were able to make same day reservations online for 11:30 in the morning before heading into the parks. We arrived right at 11:25 and were able to sit next to the water with zero wait time... Not sure if that was luck or my Birthday button :-)

I prefer the lunch menu over dinner, now if you're looking for tasty food, I recommend Napa Rose, Chef's counter. For this seating we made reservations a few weeks in advance.

I've eaten there twice, once with DH, and once with my BFF on a girls only trip. The first time, I did surf-n-turf. It was delish, and exceeded my expectations. The second time, I had the monte cristo, and it was equally divine. (For those who point out you can have the same thing at Café Orleans, I believe CO's monte cristo doesn't have meat, while BB's does, but you may be able to get it with meat if you ask nicely, or vice-versa). You are definitely paying for the ambiance, but the food is better than the "mediocre" someone up-thread said! Or maybe my fine dining experience is so limited that I can't tell what's good? Who knows ;) Both times, we've had waterside tables. We show up early, ask politely, are told that we'll have a 45 minute wait, and then are seated 10-15 minutes later. My first time eating there was on our honeymoon, and they put us back behind the keel boat, under the tree. Quite honestly, we forgot we were in the middle of a ride! There's the restaurant sounds, obviously, but the crickets and guitar strumming provide a gentle background noise that will soothe the soul, if you let it :)

In the interest of full disclosure, I adore Disneyland, and expected both experiences at BB to be wonderful, and they definitely fulfilled my expectations!

I could eat nothing but the gumbo and be perfectly happy. The steak was great (better than Carthay Circle), and the salmon was also outstanding (also better than CC). The ambiance... outstanding.

I used to do BB for the ambiance (always requested and waited for waterside) and the Monte Cristo--which note is only on the lunch menu. But I'm another whose of the opinion that the food at BB is pricey and mediocre. Our go-to ADR is Cafe Orleans now, which I think has much better food and a cheaper Monte Cristo. That said, I think every DL fan should do waterside at BB at least once. It really is magical.

(For those who point out you can have the same thing at Café Orleans, I believe CO's monte cristo doesn't have meat, while BB's does, but you may be able to get it with meat if you ask nicely, or vice-versa).

CO has 2 sandwiches, the regular Monte Cristo and three cheese. The sandwich itself is the same, the difference is you don't get the fruit skewer, bread and soup or salad. It has been reported over and over that they will not serve a thee cheese Monte Cristo at BB. The sandwiches are pre-made, so the best they will do is pull the meat off before frying.

While I agree with many others that the dinners are over prices ($34 for an entree! yikes!) I also have to agree with those who said it is worth it :)

I may also have limited fine dining experience (being a country girl almost 200mi from the nearest city!) but I really like the food at BB. My DH likes the surf and turf and I like the jambalaya. We've only ever had dinner and have always found it very enjoyable. We have booked lunch this time around because we have our two little ones with us this time, but I'm really looking forward to it.

I was quite pleased with my meal there in January. I had the short ribs, and they were delicious. I didn't have a waterside seat, and still found the ambiance plenty charming.

I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again!

We'll be doing BB for lunch on our upcoming August trip to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Does anyone know how big the portions are for the kids meals (the salmon or the chicken)? Our kids are 6 and 4, and I'm not sure if they should each get their own meal or share one. I think DH and I will probably share, and then we'll have room for dessert. Do they have the creme brule for dessert at lunch? They don't show the dessert choices on the menus online.
