Blue Bayou no longer serving the Monte Christi sandwich?

BTW, if you want to try the Disneyland Monte Cristo (which my kids absolutely love, and I think is OK, but too heavy for me to eat the whole thing), it's cheaper at Cafe Orleans and available all day. You don't get the ambience of the Blue Bayou, but Cafe Orleans is pretty nice for people watching.

Speaking of Cafe Orleans, has anyone had the meatless 3-cheese Monte Cristo made with Swiss, mozzarella and double-crème Brie? I am interested in trying the Monte Cristo, but not a huge fan of ham.

That was what I was thinking... If it wasn't fried it was probably a Croque Monsieur.

No, it's more like a savory, stuffed French toast. Several restaurants batter and grill it rather than deep fry.

A croque monieur is a totally different preparation, usually baked with melted cheese on the exterior of the sandwich.

I believe we got one of each kind last time, and it seems to me we found the all-cheese one fine, but missing something. But I like ham, so judge accordingly. Really the appeal of the monte cristo is that it’s a cross between a sandwich and a donut, so the cheese version hits all the key notes. Get it! But really, unless you love fried things, maybe split it with someone along with a cup of gumbo. I think their gumbo is quite good.

Completely agree! My sister and I split the MC and a salad. We also had a hurricane to start off (we almost got a second one but we had a reservation later that evening for Trader Sam's and decided against it). Our plan was to share a creme brulee for dessert, but we were way too full and the MC is more or less a dessert and entree in one. I couldn't even finish my half of the Monte Cristo, but man, it was delicious.

It was on the menu when I went on the 7th but when I ordered it they didn’t have it. I got the MC sandwich at Cafe Orleans back in November though
