Blue Bayou... First Day, or Last day in the park?

So, I'm torn. About a dinner reservation! :rotfl2:

I think eating at the Blue Bayou will be really special, and I'm wondering if it would be better to have our first dinner there, or our last dinner there. I honestly can't decide and there are other factors contributing to my debate...

Our last night in the park is a Friday in the off season, so that'll be our only chance to see Fantasmic. We could easily fit in dinner before the show, but should we even bother with a sit down meal since we'll need to get out seats for Fantasmic around 8ish? Would a fast-food, counter option be best on our last night?

What do you all think?

Last year we went to BB twice during our trip. I should have just canceled the ressies for the second one because I was so sick I could not even eat. (when medication says avoid excess sunlight it's best to heed the warning!) Anyway, from that experience, I would say better to go your first night just in case something unforseeable comes up that might keep you from making it on your last night.

Plus it will also leave you open so it doesn't interfere with Fantasmic.

I would definitely go the first night as the PP said. That way in case something happens, you still have a chance to maybe get in another time.

As for the night before Fantasmic, I would eat an earlier dinner, maybe get ina ride or two and then get seats. That way while you are holding seats, maybe your DH (or someone else) can sneak to another restaurant or shop and get you some yummy deserts or candies to munch on while waiting or during the show. StageDoor Cafe is right their and they have delicious looking funnel cakes!!! It would be a little bit of a walk, (and maybe you could do this beforehand) but Pooh's Corner is too far away, and you could gets lots and lots of yummy treats there too! (caramel apples, tigger tails, strawberries, etc., etc, etc,)

Have fun!

I agree with the PP about doing it before the last night (maybe not the first night, but not the last night). On our last trip, we made reservations at Blue Bayou for the last night of our trip, thinking it would be a great way to end the trip, but my DS got VERY sick and we did not go to the park. We had saved a number of things to do on the last day, so we did not get to do them - including going to dinner at Blue Bayou.

He is much better now and at least this gives us a very good reason to go back again this year, for a do-over trip!! And we know now not to leave things that we really want to do for the last night, just in case............

i agree, do it early. last year we went on one of our last days there, but my middle child contracted some kind of stomach virus. we have lots of pictures of the rest of the family eating fabulous food, but my son was sleeping the whole time in the stroller. (side note: the hostess wasn't too thrilled that we brought the stroller, even though we explained that my son was not feeling well enough to eat, we had to wait an extra 15 min for a table that could accommodate). thank goodness he can still fit in the stroller or else we would have had to cancel.

I was wondering the same thing for our upcoming trip in Oct., but I think after reading a few things here, I'm going to make PS's for the first lunch seating instead of dinner (1st seating is 11:30 a.m., correct?) and show up early and ask for waterside seating. That way, we can do it on an EE day when we've had breakfast fairly early, and just about the time we'll need a break. Also, I can try that Monte Cristo for myself for once. It's only on the lunch menu, not the dinner menu.

We're going to make our ressies for Blue Bayou for our first dinner at DL!

I told my hubby I'm just too excited to go there, and after riding POTC that day, I'll be DYING to eat there!

So, we're going to make that a standing tradition. First night's dinner at Blue Bayou. ;)
